THE SONG CAMP - A Music Incubator Programme

Project 2024-05-20 19:54:46 +1200

Newsamplewhodis (NSWD) is a music start-up on a mission to “Make the World Smaller One Song At a Time." Our music incubator programme, The Song Camp, aims to create a supportive environment for emerging artists to produce their best work and contribute to the growth of New Zealand's music industry. We aim to raise a minimum of NZ$10,000 and a maximum of $50,000 to support emerging artists, music producers, singers, songwriters, audio engineers, and graphic designers in producing completed works and amplifying their music.

Why? The most important question, the truth is being an artist in 2024 is very difficult. Artists, performers & songwriters are expected to write the song, produce the music, film the music video, manage their social media, make the artwork, find the engineers, call the venue, promote, promote, promote..... It is an exhausting experience and one that often leaves artists feeling overwhelmed and feeling stuck inside analysis paralysis. Is this the right song? Is this right for me?Maybe I should try something else…. And just like that an amazing song retires to the “unreleased” folder.

Our Song Camp is designed to help artists break these barriers and let them focus on their art.

How does the Camp Work? Our programme brings together 12 artists across 4 disciplines (Music producers / Singer Song writers, Audio Engineers & Graphic Designers) each with a specific role and function. This unique format allows each artist to own their domain and work together in collaboration to help create a completely finished song. What can sometimes take months, becomes possible within hours (and sometimes minutes) Our programme is about setting up a space for artists to safely take action, focusing on the collaboration and releasing this work to their audiences.

We help establish pathways for up-and-coming artists in two ways:

The Song Camp: A creative camp where 12 artists from 4 disciplines (music producer, singer-songwriter, audio engineer, and graphic designer) collaborate to create as many finished songs as possible in 12 hours.

The Platform: Supporting completed works through publication, publicity, and promotion, including a documentary, cinema viewing, and publicity across various platforms.

Programme Highlights 🎵

- Intensive workshops and collaborations with industry experts

- Hands-on approach to honing individual skills and refining musical style

- Mentorship and feedback from experienced professionals

- Access to NSWD's events platform, multichannel publication, and publicity and promotion

- Documentary about the incoming artists

- Songs recorded and released onto all major streaming platforms

Support us through these rewards 🙏

 - Limited edition bottles of Bayside Rum co-developed with NSWD founder Thomas Rose (all profits from the sale will go towards the incubator)

- Tickets to the first screening of the documentary

- Backstage pass to Song Camp to view the creative process

- Exclusive one-on-one executive producer masterclass with Thomas Rose

NSWD has partnered with Bayside Rum, an Auckland-based rum company, to co-develop a limited-edition rum and label ‘Rising Tides’, with all profits going towards the incubator programme.
