Help 1/200 keep independent political critique alive in Aotearoa
1/200 is created and run by Kyle Church, Philip Nannestad, and Branko Marcetic. We’re an independent media organisation based out of New Zealand, focused on examining the power structures that make the world go round.
We discuss everything from current political events to pop culture, including running a tight ship on 2023 election coverage. Our editors, advocates and writers draw on their wide range of global and local experience when they contribute to our various platforms -- our podcast, our web articles, and our newsletter.
Recently, we also launched Trestle, which aggregates news, media release, and campaign announcements across a broad spectrum of unions, collectives, and other progressive groups within Aotearoa.
All of our platforms are 100% volunteer-run, with funding of production secured through the donations of 1/200’s supporters. Our goal is to expand our coverage and to keep providing regular, independent analysis in order to combat the misinformation that’s rife in our news cycles right now.
Every dollar that we receive will go back into running 1/200 and ensuring that we continue to have independent, critical analysis of the events affecting Aotearoa’s future available to as many people as possible.

A final massive thanks to everyone who's helped in any way with the campaign.
I'm so proud of the work we do and we'll able to get a significant chunk of new stuff underway with these funds.

Thank you SO much everyone. I can't believe we closed this out with 4 days to spare! I'm so excited to wrap this up and pour these funds directly into delivering more amazing stuff. We'll have one more update here (at least) when we reach the conclusion.
Until then! Please keep sharing, every extra dollar goes straight into content, production and building indie media.

And it's looking incredibly likely we're going to make it folks!
I've been super busy so haven't updated as much as I'd have liked, but THANK YOU to everyone who has pledged so far, it's really incredible to see the support. Another huge thanks to everyone who has been sharing the link online or in person to spread the news. We definitely couldn't have got the same impactful reach just tweeting and instagramming - it means a lot that you're out there fighting our corner.
I'll have at least 2 more updates as we enter the final days of the pledge, and then, HOPEFULLY, a final celebration update when we succeed! I'm really, really excited about being able to fund some of our projects and bring people on board to strengthen independent media even further.

Thank you so much to everyone who has already pledged to the campaign! We really weren't sure how much interest there would be, so getting past the $1k mark on the first night and then on the way to $1.5k is really heartening.
You'll see us continuing to share and hustle to get more people on board and I'm really hopeful we can get this across the line <3
