About

Let’s Make It Official! - Waikato Women In Business

Project 2022-09-02 18:34:34 +1200

Waikato Women in Business (WWIB) is a community non-profit group in the Waikato that aims to connect, support, empower, promote and educate women in business within the region.

Since becoming established in July 2020, our community has grown to over 800+ women in our Facebook group and over 1.3k followers on Instagram. We are constantly evolving - so it’s about time we became incorporated as a society to make this relationship official! With monthly coffee meetups, networking evenings, and educational workshops, we want to do more and reach more here in the Waikato region. So we are asking our community for help - we need to raise the foundational funds to make our society a reality!

Our vision is that every woman in business in the Waikato would have a community of people to back her, give her advice, feel whanaungatanga, and contribute her own knowledge and experiences. We also plan to create a directory of all our member’s local businesses as THE go-to platform for supporting women in business in the Waikato.

One of our goals is to provide accessible education for women in business through scholarships, funding for business growth courses, and regular workshops. Eventually, we would love our own space where women can come to have their business meetings, network, have events, co-work, and more. That will all come in time, but this campaign will help us start on the best foot as we look to become an incorporated, non-profit society.

We've hit stretch goal #1!!!

23/11/2022 at 10:07 PM

Thank you so much to those of you who have pledged over the last few days!

We have now hit stretch goal #1 as well as our base, and we are so grateful. A big shout out to Pam from Escapist, who was the one to get us over the line for stretch goal #1!

We have less than 48 hours to go for the campaign and we are going to keep the optimism that there's now a chance we can hit stretch goal #2, so below is a reminder of what stretch goal #2 and #3 are.

If you've already pledged you can still help us get towards these goals by sharing our posts over the next couple of days on your social media channels and tagging us.

So exciting! Thank you again.

Sarah Hughes (President of WWIB)

& the WWIB team.

STRETCH GOAL #2 = $5,500

This will go towards the designing and purchasing of signage for our in-person events and towards updating our branding designs to work for the signs.

As we host a myriad of events in a multitude of venues, it is super essential for us to make sure that our event attendees know where to find us. We will be designing and creating banners, floor signs, pull-up banners, and table signs to be used at all our events.

In line with this, there are a few updates to our branding that we need to make to ensure that our signs are printed to the best quality with our logos and monograms.

STRETCH GOAL #3 = $9,000

This will go towards employing our current volunteer administrator and creating resource packs for our team members.

As we expand with our memberships coming into place we will need more administrative support to cope with all our communications between members, local representatives, our board and the rest of our team. We currently have Tash Budd from Admin Collective NZ volunteering her time to us with some administrative hours, but we would like to employ her for regular hours across 2023.

We also need to support our local reps in the work they do by providing them with resources for the coffee meetups and other events they host on our behalf. This includes things like:

- stationery items

- advertising materials for WWIB

- creating induction programmes for new reps

- the creation of volunteer contracts

and much more than will be sure to come up as we journey along.

We made it to our minimum goal!

15/11/2022 at 1:04 PM

We’ve reached our minimum goal for our fundraising campaign as of 9.53am today! Thank you to all the wahine in our community who have pledged so far and to the @ywcahamiltonnz for being the ones to get us over the line!

There is still time to pledge your donation and get your memberships for 2023 until Friday 25th November, 5pm, and we really encourage you to get your 2023 membership this way if you can, as it's the only time we will be offering discounts on memberships (except to sponsors).

We are now on our way towards our first stretch goal and we are going to share our third goal with you below too!

STRETCH GOAL #1 = $3,000

This will go towards instating our yearly subscriptions to Google Workspace and Canva Pro. Once our charitable status is approved, we will apply for the free non-profit charitable offers these programs have.

We use Canva nearly every day for our social media graphics, but the bill is currently being footed by our President and is hosted on her account. Instead, we want to create our own account for Waikato Women in Business that all our team members can have access to where needed.

We have chosen Google Workspace because of its functionality to host a few key things we need:

- Emails (for our president, administrator & regional team leaders)

- Google Meet (to host online events and team meetings)

- Google drive (to store our files on the cloud, to give ease of access to our team members)

- Google Calendar (to keep track of all our events)

STRETCH GOAL #2 = $5,500

This will go towards the designing and purchasing of signage for our in-person events and towards updating our branding designs to work for the signs.

As we host a myriad of events in a multitude of venues, it is super essential for us to make sure that our event attendees know where to find us. We will be designing and creating banners, floor signs, pull-up banners, and table signs to be used at all our events.

Beginning of week 2 update...

14/11/2022 at 9:30 PM

We are so close to our $2,000 minimum goal, only $137 off the goal, to be exact!

We are so excited to see your pledges coming through and to have almost reached our minimum goal by the end of the first week. We have started week two on a high by having our monthly Cambridge meetup this morning with six incredible women in our Waikato Women in Business community.

Left to right:

- Nicole of Priority Home Loans & WWIB Cambridge Rep

- Jane from Dress For Success Hamilton

- Nancy of Nancy Tschetner Artist

- Jackie of Jackie Oh! Media

- Sally of Critter Care

- Sarah WWIB President & Sarah Hughes Creative

Sarah, our President, went along to talk about the fundraiser, and one of her favourite moments from talking with the ladies was seeing the excitement in their eyes when sharing our kaupapa around providing scholarships for women in business in 2023.

And we couldn't do that without your help! So, if you are yet to pledge your donation (and sign up for your 2023 membership early), the link is available below or in our bio.

We can't wait to see more our Waikato Women in Business community over the coming days in our meetups across all our currently active towns. If you're still on the fence about pledging, why not come to one of the next meetups this week? For more info head to our Facebook events page.

We're halfway there! So we want to share some of our stretch goals with you

11/11/2022 at 11:00 AM

Thank you to the people who have pledged in the past 24 hours and helped us surpass the 50% mark of our goal. We are so grateful to have you join us on this journey. As we are getting closer to our $2000 minimum goal we figured it's time to share some of our stretch goals with you.

STRETCH GOAL #1 = $3,000

Make sure to spread the word on social media and in-person with your business friends and colleagues to help us reach these goals!

We will be sharing more of our stretch goals with you when we hit out $2,000 minimum. And we might even add in a couple of new rewards.

Thank you again!

Day 3 Progress

09/11/2022 at 8:57 PM

Hello, wonderful women in business in the Waikato!

It is the end of day 3 of our fundraiser and we are almost 50% towards our minimum goal of $2,000.

We have been having a great time interacting with you all over on Social Media. So if you want to connect with us directly to ask questions about the campaign, that is the best way to talk with us.

One of today's questions was:

Q. Are the memberships yearly or monthly?

A. The memberships are for a year. January 2023 (TBC) to December 2023 (TBC). Memberships purchased during 2023 will renew automatically one year from the date purchased.

We aim to keep our memberships as accessible as possible, having something for everyone, from women starting out in business to women who are established in business.

Thank you to the people who have pledged in the past 24 hours and helped us surpass the 50% mark of our goal. We are so grateful to have you join us on this journey. As we are getting closer to our $2000 minimum goal we figured it's time to share some of our stretch goals with you.
