Empathy Angels

The Empathy Angels are a team of New Zealanders who care about the wellbeing of humanity. Through the practice of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) we experience the power of giving & receiving empathy with people in our lives and dream of the 'magic' reaching more people.
Our mission is to make empathy available in the form of face-to-face sessions on Zoom to the New Zealand public, and eventually the world, thanks to the online nature of the service. The sessions are scheduled via our website www.empathyangels.co.nz for a time that suits, through the Empathy Angels' calendars.
We long for empathy to be available and accessible to everyone -
sessions will be completely free of charge to recipients.
To sustain this service, the team will financially receive (in return for time, energy and skill). We have registered as an Incorporated Society to open us up to future funding opportunities.
Right now, we need your help! Your pledge will go towards setting up this service, administration and providing sessions for the first six months. By sharing our campaign with others, the project will become more seen, more supported and empathy sessions available from March 2023. We see this movement as being fueled by the people for the people and every pledge counts.

The Team
So what is an empathy session?
You'll connect with an Empathy Angel on Zoom, where you'll be welcomed, as you are, into respectfully held space. You might bring to the session a current challenge, something you're wanting clarity around or something else you want to voice, yet aren't ready to share with those in your life. Your Angel listens with full presence using the skills of Nonviolent Communication. They subtly assist you further into your own experience, where you'll likely discover layers of meaning and understanding you have not yet touched. Your Angel will respond with presence and care, intuitively sensing the moments their contributions could be most helpful, always bringing it back to you and in the present. After receiving empathy, people are often left with a sense of clarity, healing, more inner peace and a way of moving forward.
What is Nonviolent Communication (NVC)?
NVC is a modality created by American psychologist Dr. Marshall B Rosenberg Ph.D, a result of his mission in understanding human behaviour and supporting individuals, communities and organisations to relate with connection & understanding. Also known as Compassionate Communication, Marshall chose the term 'Nonviolent' in reference to how Mahatma Gandhi referred to it in his movement of nonviolence, or 'ahimsa' in Sanskrit, which directly translates to 'harmlessness' or 'care for all'.
"Through NVC we learn to hear our own deeper needs and those of others. Through its emphasis on deep listening - to ourselves as well as others - NVC helps us discover the depth of our own compassion. This language reveals the awareness that all human beings are only trying to honour universal values and needs, every minute, every day.
NVC can be seen as both a spiritual practice that helps us see our common humanity, using our power in a way that honours everyone's needs, and a concrete set of skills which help us create life-serving families and communities." - Centre for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC)
What happens after the six months initial service period?
As an Incorporated Society with the service operating, we'll be in a position to seek alternative funding routes. We will do what it takes for people to have ongoing empathy support. We intend to continually grow our Team of Angels, meaning more empathy sessions are available for more people.
What does the $37,000 go toward?
* Financial remuneration to the Angels for their time & energy for six months Apr-Sept 2023
* Management of the team & operations
* Marketing - making the service known and reaching those who want to use it
* Full website with confidential self-booking engine
* Rewards packaging & postage
* Campaign video

It's been just over a week since dancing across the crowdfunding finish line and boy, just tuning back into the experience of collaboration, restores any still-tired bones with vitality. Such a treat. 🙏
So what's happening now?
🌀 We've JUST finished sending rewards out to you all - yippeee!
🌀 Wheels are in motion with our website design - exciting...
🌀 Preparations with the Angel team to have the structure of our sessions completely streamlined
🌀 All other behind-the-scenes preparations to have us ready in April to begin offering our six-month pilot service

$10,000 has been donated to our campaign by a Trust, which means we are over $30,000. Whoppeeee!!
We are collectively dancing and celebrating our way toward the finish line together, can you feel it?!!
Every pledge counts. Is there somewhere you thought about sharing and then haven't yet? Now would be the time! 🙏
Being an all-or-nothing campaign, it means we only receive the funds you've all lovingly pledged if we reach our goal.
And I'm over-joyed to share, that if there's an amount remaining, someone(s) has offered to loan us the money so we can still cross the finish line and receive all the funds to move into Part 2 of our project!!
Tonight I'll be dancing on the beach with my family, with you all in my heart.
For now, the campaign is still live and open!
