Double Edged is a short film which follows a young man named Jay who starts seeing everything in two’s. From almost getting run over by a car twice in a row to finding two $5 notes 50 meters apart, to people greeting him the exact same way one after the other. He gets lost in this world of deja vu as no one sees what he is seeing. Though it may not all be bad for him as he finds out his friend has won big time. What does it mean for Jay? Let's find out.
The vision for our film is to create a joyous comedy that everyone can come to enjoy! This film was inspired by the director's love for films that have a sense of uncertain reality. The director and producer both love films that have a weird sense of distorted reality and they are really inspired to create a film of that caliber.
This film is being created by Harry Stanbridge, the director and writer, and Adelle Santillan, the producer. This is a part of our final assessment for our Television and Screen production major at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Harry and Adelle are both creatives who have been friends for our 3 years at university and have been working hard for the past two years to develop our skills to be able to create a film of this sort. We are both also excited to be able to make a film that we can take with them beyond the university to plant themselves into the screen and television industry. We are both aspiring to enter this film into film festivals in the near future.
We are honored to be joined by a fantastic crew. They consist of Jim Marbrook as our Executive Producer and Mentor with his experience and vast knowledge of the film industry. We also have the lovely Josh Bedford as our 1st Assistant Director, Deijah Perese as our Cinematographer, Calvin Raass as our Sound Operator, and Emma Strachan as our Art Director.
The funding for this project would predominantly go towards our cast, catering, props, transport, and many more things needed for our film to succeed! Both of us would honestly love for this film to succeed and we hope many of our followers and pledgers feel the same way. Any donations are appreciated from both of us and we'd really love to be able to reach our goal and surpass.
Make sure to head to our Instagram page @doubleedgedthefilm and our Facebook page 'Double Edged - S&S Productions' to keep updated on our film progress.
We appreciate all the support and generosity towards our film! Any donations are very much so appreciated as it helps the success of our film, no matter how big or small! Thank you again and we really hope to create an awesome film for all of you!
Peace and love, Harry & Adelle <3

An Overdue Update :)

Hi guys,
We hope everyone is doing well and looking after themselves and their families as restrictions ease slowly but surely :) Just thought we’d update you all on the situation at hand. When the lockdown hit we had to re-adjust our whole film plan which was scheduled to be filmed and edited within the next month. For a while we kept holding out hope that the lockdown would come to an end and we would be able to film it as we had originally planned. However, it soon became clear this wouldn’t be the the reality and we had to plan for something else given the deadlines for submission. For the assignment we decided to proceed with a lockdown version of the film, one where I could play Jay (the protagonist) and I could get my family to play the other roles which was obviously far from ideal, but it gave us a chance to hand in something that was as close to what we wanted as possible. It gave us a chance to do a trial run of the whole thing, in terms of filming and editing which would hopefully highlight any issues that we hadn’t seen coming. I also did a Zoom script read through with the cast we would’ve had for the film and that was a really enjoyable experience seeing how they all linked together (even if it was on Zoom).
Our plan has and will remain to be to film it properly as we had originally intended but this would no longer fall under the category of a university assignment and would instead be for our own benefit and the love of the film. Having said that, the university are supporting the process with film equipment and an executive producer we can come to when we need. It is looking very unlikely we will be able to organise everything (locations, cast (incl. flights), equipment, crew etc) in time to film in December, however, after our discussion today Adelle and I we think January/February could be a realistic option. I know that is quite far away, but at this stage it’s our best chance of doing it. We really see this as an opportunity to fine tune what we have and overall make a better movie given what we’ve done so far.
Finally, we understand it is no longer exactly what we were proposing and so for that reason if anyone would like a refund on the money they pledged they are completely entitled to do so and that is totally fine. If you would like to keep supporting us in the process that would be amazing, and we would be extremely grateful, but just do what’s best for you :))
Lots of love,
Harry and Adelle
Thank You!!!!!

Hi everyone!!
We just wanna thank you for all your pledges and support on this film. We are both so so excited to start filming!
With the Level 4 lockdown extended, we have had to cancel our initial shoot days and are waiting for further updates to schedule new ones. We are both still working super hard behind the scenes on our pre-production to be able to create this film! In regards to your pledges, in the event that there is no safe way we can create this film (fingers crossed we don't come to that!), we will update all of you on what happens with the pledges.
Thank you again for all the support and donations, and we hope everyone stays safe in their bubbles.
From the team of Double Edged,
Adelle and Harry <3
