We have been awarded the Mayoral Task Fund!!!

18/12/2020 at 6:47 PM

Not only is it Friday and nearly Christmas but we are celebrating because we have been granted the Mayoral Task Force fund which is a fabulous $3000!!!

The cherries will be ripe and the Upper Clutha Youth are ready to pick them and we need your help to put them together!

By supporting this pilot project you will:

- enable young people to help the local fruit growers in times of need and earn good money via a sweet holiday job in beautiful Central Otago

-ensure that the fruit, and the opportunities, do not go to waste

-support local solutions while borders remain closed

We are working with CentralPAC for this pilot project and we aim to create further sustainable orchard work projects in future years. The current border restrictions could mean that $9.5 billion worth of fruit and vegetables go unpicked. The risk of rotting fruit and produce can be unhealthy for the trees and will reduce future yields for the orchards and growers.

The funds you contribute will enable transport for the youth with a locally owned bus company. Transport has been identified in local studies as a major issue for our young people in getting around the area. We will also employ two supervising adults to keep up the work ethic and assist where needed. We want our young people to know that they are worth investing in, and your contribution will make sure we get this done together.
