Hi and I appreciate your time checking us out!
I'm Matt and have had an engineering manufacturing business for the last 7 years (A-Spec Engineering Ltd www.aspeceng.co.nz) and have been involved in prototyping, machining and manufacturing since I finished school around 22 years of engineering and product development experience.
We have just started another business running from home growing and selling small amounts of mushrooms (Whangarei Gourmet Mushrooms Ltd) and have been amazed with the science behind growing gourmet mushrooms like the Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms which all have different growing behaviours and ways they like to grow and different food they like to grow on.
I have a young family and they are helping me start this business bringing us together as a family team achieving something fun and rewarding together and look forward to growing our hobby business into a NZ exporter of the best quality mushrooms as well as supplying restaurants and market gardens.
I have found the biggest problem with the industry of growing mushrooms is the huge waste in plastic grow bags otherwise the whole process is very eco-friendly.
We need some help with funding to design, reasearch and build a commercial prototype of a re-usable plastic container for both spawn growing and mushroom fruiting containers so the process can cut down on plastic waste in the industry.
We also want to get a patent on the design before commercial production of the containers goes forward and that's where I am looking to get to with this campain so the funds will be used to get to the commercial phase and then I will be looking for further funding to expand into growing the business for commercial quantities of product to ship around the globe and create an eco-friendly NZ made brand for the containers and perhaps other Ideas will come up while we are learning other areas that can be improved for the better of the environment and production costs to reduce the end price of great quality gourmet mushrooms.
Let's get rid of these and replace them with washable re-usable grow containers.
