About

A Game Of Cat And Mouse

Project 2020-01-22 17:33:28 +1300

Hi there, I am wanting to start my own photography business called Cat & Mouse Photography. I have already secured the name and have created a Facebook and Instagram page to help promote it.

The reason I think I would succeed in doing this is I have been passionate about photography from a very young age and I can't see that ending any time soon. Therefore I have finally decided to take the plunge at the age of 29 to turn this into a career. I feel I have enough work experience under my belt to be able to manage my own buisness.

You may be wondering why call it Cat & Mouse, well the name came to me when I was sitting at home looking through photos and my big ginger cat Chuckie came in and dropped a mouse at my feet. The more I thought about the name it also occurred to me that taking photos can also seem a bit like a cat and mouse game. If you think of the photographer as the cat and subject as the mouse, and all you want to do is capture your subject.

I have photographed events and weddings, all for free at this stage as I feel I do not have the set up to start charging. My short term goal is to set up a small office in my home with a decent computer, desk, printer and USB sticks that have my name and logo on them.

My costs for setting this up are below:

Laptop - $3000 - Mac - Apple Shop

Desk - $200 - Warehouse Stationery

Chair -  $200 - Warehouse Stationery

Printer - $129 - Warehouse Stationery

USB - $558.50 -  50 x Wooden USB sticks with logo plus shipping

Camera Lens - $519 - Noel Leeming

My long term goal would be to set up a studio in Wellington, have like minded people working with me and work together to take amazing pictures professionally and voluntary. I would love a place where we could run classes for any age group including young children who have that same passion I did.

I would also love to purchase another lens for my camera as I currently only have the one, which means I am quite limited with the shots that I can capture.

At this stage I would work in the field rather than in a studio as don't have that setup available to me, so would love to give a USB filled with photos to my customers.

The USB would look something along the lines of:
