Kia Ora!
We are Lunar Collaborative, an all-female team of thespians intent on bringing unique and provoking theatre to all with our show Lunar State as a part of Auckland Fringe Festival 2020, and we need your help to make it happen!
Conceived in 2018 as a graduation project for Unitec’s Performing and Screen Arts degree, with the support of Red Leap Theatre’s Kate Parker, Lunar State is the passion project of three emerging artists. After a year of development, with the support of Te Pou, we’re ready to bring it to the public and need you to make it the best show we can.
Your generous support will help us to pay for venue hire, set and prop making, and everything else that goes into making theatre. As a thank you, we will reward you for your generosity with some fun and quirky gifts. Win-win!
ABOUT LUNAR STATE:
"Follow us to a different time, a different place".
A scientist of the future, Cookie Sheila Levin is looking back to answer the age-old question: Why did the moon leave? Where did she go?
Inspired by Italio Calvino’s “The Distance of the Moon”, Lunar State is a tale of a surreal world where the moon almost touches the sea. A young girl, called by the moon, is tasked with collecting and distributing the precious moon milk to her people, as a source of life and vitality. However, when the moon receives an unexpected visitor, the gentle balance of give and take is disrupted. Temptation and greed overcome the earth, and sucked dry, the moon vanishes from sight.
An achingly funny, fragile and poignant play about consumerism and listening to the planetary voice, Lunar State will catapult you through space and time, as Cookie Sheila Levin endeavours to find the truth behind the moon's disappearance.
ABOUT LUNAR COLLABORATIVE:
We are Lunar Collaborative - an all-female group of actors passionate about creating physical theatre about sustainability and consumerism.
Created by co-founders Emily Hurley, Bridie Sisson, and Sheyney Ansin as part of a graduation project, Lunar Collaborative has now established itself as an emerging artist in the Auckland theatre scene. With the support of Red Leap Theatre’s Kate Parker, Benny Joy Smith (producer of Run Rabbit), and TAPAC, these ladies are ready to make a splash at Auckland Fringe Festival 2020.
