Who is Pūtahi Innovations Limited?
Pūtahi is a meeting place between the landscape, peoples or ideas, Pūtahi Innovations is a meeting place between problems and solutions. We seek to support those on a low-income struggling to make ends meet and others wishing to save money on their weekly grocery shopping through our Cheap Kai! smartphone app.
What is the Cheap Kai! smartphone app?
Cheap Kai! is an intuitive smartphone grocery shopping app that uses crowd sourced information. Users compare the cheapest priced grocery items and their location, upload and share their findings of cheaper grocery items with others and become part of a digital community of likeminded frugal shoppers.
Cheap kai! started from a small idea at the PASIFIKA Startup Weekend 2017. We continue to validate our product through surveys and focus groups, aligned our business model to a Social Enterprise framework and business values to Te Ao Māori concepts.
So, what have you done so far?
We have teamed up with a local software developer, who have built a wire-frame prototype for testing and aim to have a viable product by November.
You can download the wire-frame prototype for Android from here;
https://office.littlemonkey. co.nz/nextcloud/index.php/s/ 8QMLjapELZ3N5Sb
You will have to allow unknown sources on your phone to install, but if you have a fairly newer phone it should guide you through that.
This includes picking items from a list and then shows all the stores on the map which have any of them items. When you tap on the store it shows the total price and distance in an info window. Tap again on the info window to get a price breakdown for all the items.
Why do you need us? Why come to PledgeMe?
We have invested $4,700 into the first part of the wire-frame prototype, we will invest a further $2,500 in the next phase of the prototype build yet need a further $2,500 for the last phase of the prototype build and the first two months of testing.

Tēnā koutou katoa,
Thank you to all those that have pledged so far, it has been a sharp learning curve but a positive experience.
In recognition to your support, and to show my greatest appreciation, I have decided to honor all pledges regardless if we meet our goal or not.
There is only one week left, and we will keep pressing our campaign to the end date.
Ngā mihi nui
Terence
