About

Power Box Art ~ Colouring Up The City

Project 2018-08-17 17:04:07 +1200

I have been given permission to paint some of Chorus's cabinet power boxes around Auckland. I am not receiving any funding , So I am looking for help to fund my materials and time to put my works out there. Each box and cabinet will take me a couple hours to paint and I am looking for $50 to complete each one. For every box I would like to make colourful , bold , detailed and relatable to signify its area. If I reach my mark of $500 I will be able to paint ten boxes. I have already located all my boxes and are ready to go. If I was to be so lucky enough to receive more then my mark I will continue to produce pieces for the community in hopes to brighten up the dull green and council buff grey spaces.

The West Gate sample textI have always had a great interest in art and for the street arts..Being brought up involved in and amongst a lot of street art and mural painting I am passionate about the form especially the way it is accessible for the public. I believe that the city should be encouraging more of the arts, older traditions and culture. With colour and expressive pieces it works towards pushing a more creative aspect to the city, As apossed to monotone walls which the council property is covered with..I have been given an opportunity to showcase some of my work and are grateful..some will be my own concepts , others abstract and some based on the community area itself . Since the world cup a lot of old street art and artistic murals have been washed away in order to ''clean'' up the city,  As a kid growing up those particular pieces of art can be very pivotal for an aspiring artist to take in and for the very community itself. I want to bring back something that may inspire someone or be influential to an area ,  to bring a sense of comfort, liveliness fun and artistic boundary pushing..
