From small seeds extraordinary things can grow, from the desire to try something new, to a desire to become financially independent. From home brewing to contract brewing!
We are The Independence Collective!
The Independence Collective are a group of individuals with an intellectual disability seeking to gain financial independence by coming together as a collective under the entrepreneurial spirit.
Struggling to find employment opportunities in todays competitive job market we have taken it upon ourselves to create our own opportunities. The first of these opportunities is the launch of our own beer label under the brand The Independence Collective. Our first brew will be "Neville" a craft Pale Ale brewed in partnership with Duncan's Brewing here on the Kapiti Coast.
This is only the beginning, the beginning for both us and for those who will join the collective as we grow. We have many more ideas for creating further business and employment opportunities. We would love to have your support for our PledgeMe Campaign.

How Will Your Money Be Used?
It will help in the development and brew of our first batch of 'Neville' Pale Ale.
Enable us to secure a small office space to run our collective from.
Allow us to purchase a coolstore to keep Neville cool and fresh so when he arrives on your doorstep he is at his best.
Some office furniture and other items essential in the day to day running of our business.

Bottling Day for Neville

Last week was yet another milestone in our journey toward financial independence. We all met at Duncans for the long awaited bottling of our Neville Pale Ale. Check out the photo's below.
Now the brew is bottled we can begin delivering the rewards to you.
A big thank you to all those who have already provided delivery adresses and t-shirt sizes for their rewards. There are still a few of you that have not, so f we could get these by Sunday evening at the latest we should be able to start delivering rewards as early as next week.
Thank you all again for the support and encouragement we have recieved to date.

Tasting The Final Brew

We had a busy time last week organising the final touches to the labels. As you can see we had a tasting at the brewery. Feedback to date is that it is a great tasting beer.
The brew is now finished and ready to be bottled. This will happen over the next couple of days. Once this is done we can begin delivering the rewards. For those of you that are awaiting rewards can you please e-mail us through a delivery address. For those of you who have a t-shirt as part of that reward could you include a size preference. Our e-mail is [email protected]. Once we have your details we will let you know when to expect delivery.
Thank you again for all the support we have recieved to date. It has been an amazing journey so far, and as Cameron keeps saying...'this is only the beginning.'

Our Dream Becomes A Reality

Friday was an exciting day for our collective. It was the day our dream turned into a reality. We spent the morning with George Duncan at the brewery learning all about the brewing process and getting that first batch under way so we can fulfil your rewards and start selling our beer. A big thank you to George for taking the time to explain things to us as we worked and for allowing us the opportunity to get our hands dirty and participate in the process. It was an awesome day!
The beer is now well on its way and should be available within the next three weeks. We are still hard at work in the background finalising label designs, t-shirt designs and getting the rewards ready to deliver to you all. Thank you for all the support we have received so far. We will update you again soon.

Thank you all so much for your support. We have reached our goal and are now hard at work to get all the rewards out to you. We will keep you posted every step of the way with news and updates as we progress.
The first bit of news is the beer itself. We spoke with George at Duncan's today and he will begin the brewing process next week. We are so excited to be part of this process and will keep you updated with photo's and comments as we go. The brew process takes around two and a half to three weeks so as soon as those bottles roll off the line we will get them to you.
We are already working on the other rewards so will time everything to be sent out once that beer is bottled and ready to go.
Thank you all once again for your amazing support and encouragement. It has been an incredible journey so far and we could not have done it without you.

Campaign Update

To all our followers and supporters. We would like to thank you all for the amazing response we have received for our project to date. We have been given the opportunity by PledgeMe to lower our target amount and extend our deadline. We have therefore taken the time to rethink our goals and get back to basics. The most important thing for us is to begin brewing beer. We have had an offer by a national liquor retailer but need beer to sell them. The new target of $14000 reflects our new goal. 2000 litres of beer brewed, bottled and ready for sale. Please get behind our project and help us reach this new goal.
The new end date for the campaign is now the 16th of September. Check out the site, grab a reward or two and help us get that first brew on the shelves for sale.
