Life-Sized Onager For New Zealand
Project 2017-06-18 16:45:10 +1200
We intend to raise funds to build a historically accurate, LIFE-SIZED onager - and potentially more than one. We would seek the guidance of NZ expert, Murray Hill and utilise 21st century technology to cut the pieces and then rely on traditional labour to build. The build team will be led by Charlie Tapsell, Captain of the Northern Horde re-enactment group and exec member Baldaquin incorporated society of NZ which organises such events as NZ Medieval Faire
To fund one such machine would be a first for NZ, and if we can build more than one, there could be a competition on site, which would be a first for New Zealand.
The aim is to accomplish the education of historical accuracy, mechanical precision and a Roman time-travelling encampment for the machine(s). Pledgers can either (1) buy the right to an entire machine to build themself at the workshop, or (2) help towards the build of one machine which will then be able to attend specific events.

Following discussion - and to clarify: "life-sized" is not full-sized historically accurate build, it is life-sized as in appropriate for an average sized person to use and feasibly transportable.
If you want a full-size build, you need to supply a permanent range and discuss your requirements with the expert(s)
