Fragments is a short film about the connections and disconnections between people in a relationship told through the medium of contemporary dance.
The story centres on a couple who are growing apart but are still sharing the same living space and so much of their lives with each other. It will explore the emotional process that they go through as they discover the change in their feelings towards each other.
The film will focus on the emotional trauma of an ending through body language, movement and dance. The aim is to have audiences empathise with the characters and recall their own experiences of relationships and break-ups.
This short is being made as my final, fourth year film project for my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Canterbury. I have written the script and will direct and edit this film myself, with help from classmates for crew. I have teamed up with choreographer Jenna Dellabarca, and Colette Inkster and Kyle Tinnion will star as the film’s dancers/actors.
Why you should pledge to my project?
I only need a small amount of money to pay for the hire of the location that the entire film will be shot in! It’s not too much to ask, but I am unable to afford it by myself (being a poor student!). I would hugely appreciate any amount, large or small, it all helps!
If I manage to raise more than I need for the hire cost, the money will go towards feeding the cast and crew while shooting.
There is an array of exciting rewards to tempt you into helping me out. You will only be charged the amount you choose to pledge if the project reaches its target in the time specified (if it doesn’t, you will not be charged).
