My First Children's Book
Project 2014-01-02 09:21:30 +1300
Hello, my name is Pam Thuamjan and I'm 17 years old. I came to New Zealand when I was 10 years old with no English and now I am currently studying at Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School. This year I will be in class 12 (year 13). As part of the requirement for completing the class 12 year we have to choose and fulfil a project for the year and I have chosen to write and illustrate a children's book. I have always loved drawing and painting so I thought it would be cool to show off my artistic side and challenge myself with writing a children's story in English.
ABOUT MY PROJECT:
I have begun research on how to write, illustrate and publish a children's book. I have formed a plot, identified the characters and begun to develop rough drawings. I have made contact with an author/illustrator in the UK for tips, and an artist here in New Zealand for advice on drawing techniques, paper quality and medium for expression in pastel. Additionally I have a supervisor from amongst the teaching staff at school.
WHAT IS MY STORY ABOUT:
Princess Bear is invited to the King of the jungle's talent birthday party where she and all the animals must come with their own unique talent. Princess Bear thinks she has no special talent so she asks her animal friends for help by teaching her their talent. But Princess Bear has to face many obstacles to discover her own unique talent. What will her and her friends' talents be? And will she find her talent on time before the party?
Is to raise $500 for the cost of shipping and buying art material, such as Unison Pastel set, Derwent pastel pencils and Canson mi-teintes pastel paper. Money left over will go towards getting my children's book professionally manuscripted to publishing standard.
I need your help to achieve my project and make my children's book look colourful to a professional level of presentation.
Please pledgeme and see my book come alive!!
Update number 1

First of all I would like to say thank you to all the plegers for pledging me so far, I am thrilled and appreciated all the help and support.
A little update of what I've been doing in the past few weeks. I have been working hard on writing the story, so it can be sent off to my personal advisor (a New Zealand author) to check. Now I'm working on the middle and ending part of the story.
Bye for now
