WHO IS FOODTOGETHER
Foodtogether facilitates access to fresh affordable food through a national network of local Co-ops. We’ve been supporting communities for over 30 years, giving a hand up, rather than hand-outs.
Foodtogether seeks to address two critical issues, food security and isolation. Through fresh fruit and vegetable produce hubs, we work to empower local communities. In response to an evolving cost of living crisis we’re planning to establish a network of Foodtogether Stores+. This will build on our proven track record of enabling local community organisations seeking to address health and wellbeing.
WHAT IS A FOODTOGETHER STORE+
Foodtogether Stores+ will be operated for and by local communities, and include an online facility. In addition to providing fresh produce and other food staples, they will serve to improve education, create jobs and strengthen local connections. We envisage a nationwide network of Foodtogether Stores+ providing fresh affordable produce for all in NZ, from the biggest cities to the smallest towns. Under an existing limited liability company (currently supporting Foodtogether Co-ops), we will finance the set up of stores using a 'friendly franchise' system. We will also provide all necessary store design/branding, food licences and operating proceedures. Once Stores+ are trading profitably, they begin repaying their set-up costs to the Foodtogether Company. This money can then be directed toward the set-up of the next Store+.
OUR VISION
We're planning to push out foodtogether Stores around the country. Some will be established as part of our existing network of Foodtogether Co-ops. Others will be linked to various community organisations. Stores will serve their local communities with profits directed back to addresss local need.
WHERE THE MONEY GOES
Pledge Me donations will be used for the first store set up. If we exceed our target, this will enable us to fit-out multiple stores earlier. We have a number of locations ready and eager to start.
WHO'S ON THE TEAM
Foodtgether exists under an umbrella Limited Liability Company with a long history of successful social enterprise. We work with existing organisations and are expanding to now offer Foodtogether Store+ as a 'friendly franchise'. There are hundreds of folk around the country currently supporting our Foodtogether Co-ops. Some of these existing Co-ops will branch out and set up Stores+. Others will be set up through various existing Trusts and/or Social Enterprises. Foodtogether Stores+ will operate with a mix of employed and volunteer folk.
WHAT WILL STORES SELL
Fresh fruit and vegetables will be our main product lines. Staples such a bread, milk, butter, and other produce wil gradually be added, along with fresh cut flowers.

Extended For Another 4 Weeks

We have extended our Foodtogether Store+ project, as we have our 2 locations now secured, so we have taken the opportunity to push on towards our target and extend this for another 4 weeks, to make these initial stores happen.
