Collab Project with Fringe

The Wellington Fringe Festival is an open-access festival held every summer involving a wide range of shows across all artforms in venues throughout the city.

THE SHOW:

 "How did you get here?"
“I remember trying to find an invisible party...”

Bright Orange Walls is coming to BATS for the Wellington Fringe Fest 2013! The show is Light Sleepers' Wake,
a devised 60-minute play in a smoky, dingy, bourbon-soaked bar which can only be found by people walking alone through the city, late at night. We draw on the works of
T.S. Elliot, Edward Hopper and Tom Waits to show what it means to be
twenty-something, drunk, and trapped in a genre not your own.

Bright Orange Walls relishes the challenge of discovering and being playful on a small budget. But for Christmas this year we want a playground! Lamps, gels, Venetian blinds, bar stools, Talcum powder, corrugated iron, fabric and anything else we can find to make this show as intoxicating as we can. And for that, we're relying on you to help us out!

The playground that we will build from these donations will add to our resources for future shows. You will be equipping us with the means to continue to make new, experimental, edgy theatre. Thanks so much for your time, and Merry Christmas!

WHO WE ARE:

Bright Orange Walls is a new Wellington based theatre collaboration made up of eleven members with experience in creating theatre. Coming from the Victoria University Theatre programme, Long Cloud Youth Theatre, and Toi Whakaari, we are all students of theatre who take pride in the fact that our performances don’t just represent our creative endeavours, but our educational ones as well. Our work respects every member’s stake in creating theatre that is vibrant, intelligent, poetic and crucial to us as twenty-somethings.

Visit our blog at www.lightsleeperswake.wordpress.com to follow our discoveries we make each week in the rehearsal room and see images from the show, as we head towards our performance in the Wellington Fringe Festival.
