Help Debs To Run Away With Will
Project 2015-02-04 08:58:05 +1300
I have been selected by Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand for an extraordinary opportunity. I have been invited to attend two weeks of teacher training at Shakespeare’s Globe, London.
I will be working with chief experts on text, voice and movement and with high calibre Globe practitioners. I will gain first-hand experience of Globe Education practices and their application in the classroom. I will observe Shakespeare in selected schools in London. I will gain detailed practical and theoretical insights into Shakespeare’s stage craft and even individual acting experience on the Globe stage.
Most importantly, I will bring back to Wellington tools to allow me to further connect NZ's young people with Shakespeare in performance.
As a teacher, I run my own performing arts training school for children. Through Wonderplay I train and educate 85 students aged 4-18 across Wellington. I started my company in July 2013- more than tripling my enrolments in just 18 months.
Because I am running my own new business it isn't always simple and easy financially. Wonderplay is, as yet, not in a place for me to be able to take a salary. I do not have a funded school to support me or a work place which is able to invest in my professional development.
Through PledgeMe I am hoping to raise (at least!) $3900 of the $9000 required Shakespeare Teachers Go Global costs.

FINAL DAY- GOAL REACHED!
14/04/2015 at 4:18 PM
Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for your support and for your belief in me as a teacher. I am feeling very loved.
I've been thinking lately of the many Shakespeare shows that I have done and the wonderful people who I have met through the process. Shakespeare has brought me amazing friends and has given me the opportunity to meet truly special people.
My classmate, Matt, who trained with me at Wellington Performing Arts Centre was murdered late last year. I have many fond memories of rehearsing and performing Shakespeare with him. I have been turning to these memories a lot in the past four months.
I hope that while working on Shakespeare with young people that they form amazing relationships and create great memories to cherish also.
I'm sure Shakespeare will also give me many gifts on this trip too.
The Pledgeme campaign closes at 9pm tonight- I will be onstage during that time for the opening night of The Showgirl. Thank you all!
Here's Matt and I working on Titus Andronicus

It's the final week of term one for me at Wonderplay. I'm currently teaching so many students that end of term certificates are starting to become an environmental hazard!
Today is exciting because one of my youth companies, Wellington Young Actors will be deciding which Shakespeare play they will be working on later in the year. WOOHOO!
Thanks for all of your support so far! I'm almost halfway to being able to set foot on the Globe stage!
