For over 15 years Deb Williams, fondly known as ‘Horsey Deb', has been sharing her knowledge of Natural Horsemanship using the ‘Parelli’ method with so many local Northland children - Never asking anything in return. The horse float she has used during this time has come to the end of the road, and is going into retirement. “It’s helped so many children to experience the unique and beautiful years of our horses swimming at the beach…. we have given hundreds of children tail rides across the river and in the ocean. It’s brought so many people together and we have an ever expanding community of friends.” Deb Williams.
Deb needs a replacement horse float to enable her to transport the horses to greener pastures for grazing and to continue to do what she does in the community; engaging children and families in the love of horses, giving children self-confidence and fun through horsey adventures, with humility and kindness.
We are a group of parents who have seen the benefits first hand our children have received from spending time with Deb and the horses such as, building self confidence, building relationships between horse and child, and friendships with each other. We need your support to help us give something back to Deb for all the time and effort that she has invested in the children over the years. She can only continue to give these gifts to the children with a new float and that is where we (and you) come in to help, by getting behind us, pledging and becoming a hero for the horses, Deb and the kids.

Almost there - 5 days to go
09/04/2014 at 7:55 PM
Hi Everyone,
Gosh I can't beleive it we are almost there, we are so close now to realising the dream of another horse float for Deb to continue her work with the children. We have only 5 days to go and need an extra boost to get us to the finishline. It would be amazing if you could keep spreading the word, any amount that people can give will help us get there.
Thanks to everyone that has pledged so far this has been a real testinmony of the appreciation of the work that Deb has done with the children. We have had some new followers this week and have had two Northland newspapers publish articles about Deb's work and the fundraising campaign, this has created some real momentum. Just thought I would add the links to the articles in, as you have all been part of this journey.

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have any connections with Horse Groups or Pony Clubs? If so could you please spread the word about the campaign to them. Like attracts like and all...Also we are starting to put some feelers out around looking for a horse float to buy. So if you know anyone that would be willing to sell their horse float to us at a charitable rate we would love to hear about/from them.
Thanks heaps.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you to all that pledged this week. It truely is wonderful to see so many people wanting to give, and that philanthrohy is still alive and well. I get quite excited when I see a notification come through on my emails, as I know we are one step closer to getting Deb her horse float.
Just wanted to let you know that the Northern Advocate has done a piece on Deb and Heroes for Horses. Here's hoping that the publicity brings some more awareness to the campaign. It is due to be published on Tuesday 1st April, so keep a look out. For those of you that do not recieve that paper you will be able to view it online.
Keep spreading the word:-)
Many Thanks.
Thanks so much for pledging and for giving Heroes for Horses such a great kick start.
