Astro Empire need your help!

We are aiming to raise $2,500 towards the costs of our debut EP which we will be recording in June at Wellington's Munki Studios.


Astro Empire:

Based in Wellington and play a brand of Neo Soul that tastes a little like the likes of Jill Scott, Jamiroquai, Earth Wind and Fire and Erykah Badu.

All six members met while studying at the Wellington Jazz campus of the New Zealand School of Music and formed the band in 2011.

Telling the stories and kissing your eardrums are the dual lead vocalists: Louis Thompson-Munn and Dave Kempton. If youtake a look ‘in the pocket’ you’ll find the grooving underbelly of Astro: Shaun Anderson on Drums and Leon Philipsen on Bass. The tasty counter melodies, lush harmonies and slamming solos are filled out by Jake Baxendale on Tenor Saxophone and Ben Hunt on the Trumpet.
Add to this the warm, spacey and driving sounds from Louis’ Rhodes, Clav and Synth and the ‘sometimes too heavy, sometimes too light but always just right’ Guitar sounds from Dave and you have the palette that makes this bands stain on the groove canvas so unique. 

With these powers combined, the audience is always on their feet!

We'll be hitting this fantastic studio in June to record, mix and master our EP which has the most talented of people and facilities. So we are very privileged to be able to record here.

90 Minutes to go!!!

Huge thanks to everyone for helping us to our goal and pledging, we're only 90 minutes away from the deadline and we're neeeearly there! Lets hope we get there, please share the page around to your friends and lets get us across the line! 

We all set up in the studio today and we push record tomorrow. It's now or never!

Only 3 days left to go and we still have $1520 to raise to reach our target! I'm sure we can find 152 people out there to only donate $10 and we're there! A huge thanks again to everyone who has helped us out! Keep 'em coming guys!

Well we're less than 2 weeks away from the deadline and the Astro guys would like to send you all a massive thanks for supporting us and pledging towards our EP! We're still a little ways off the target so please share our project around to your friends or anyone that might be interested in helping out!
