My Pledge Me project is to help me in my study of global health, sustainability and ecology and how this affects people and their health. I am one of eight Kiwis selected for this course of study. Based in Australia I will be able to investigate urban and rural landscapes from Western and Aboriginal contexts and the impact of those settings on health. The impact of environment on health is huge, by helping me do this course you are investing in New Zealand's future health environment. I can adapt global frameworks to local settings and help increase the health of NZ people. I study the interaction between humans and environment while looking at ways to increase bottom up initiatives or top down policy through inclusive strategies. It is basically human health geography.
Here is more about the course.
Massey University has awarded me $3000 towards the University of Georgia course, studying;Global Health, sustainability and environment. However I need to come up with another $1000 as well as my own savings to pay the international course fee. Please check out the URL link on course details.
"This is what I want to do!". I want to research people and health, I want to see how human inequality and environmental effects on this can be reduced. Reducing prejudice and increasing health equity and equality in the world will ultimately ensure people live longer. I want to make some contribution in understanding health, sustainability, environment and the human interaction between these. This course will allow me to learn about that. For three weeks and over six destinations in Australia I will be applying psychology, development and health studies into global arenas of broader health landscapes. The course incorporates everything and more I have studied up until now and will provide me with a better and more practical understanding of the health sustainability challenges facing the world. This course will give my studies increased depth and understanding in existing health environments, based on field work. There is no other course like this available at Massey and I am very passionate about being accepted and at having the option available. I am a mother to an 8 yr old boy, so I am unable to work part time as well as meet study requirements. I have saved as much as I can on limited funds and am now one year from finishing my Degree. With your help I can reach the full potential of my area of study in human development and health. I need your help to be part of something that will ultimately benefit New Zealand and our people.
