Wellington based progressive-funk band, OddJive, has been creating new material throughout the year and it's time to enter the recording studio. After releasing their independant debut album in 2018, More Trouble Than Funny, vocalist Taylah Barker joined the band and with this came a shift in the OddJive sound as well as a follow-up EP released later in 2018, Neither Clever Nor Funny. OddJive has always thrived in the arenas of funk, punk and hip-hop and Taylah's powerful and emotive vocal presence brought a heavy dose of soul to the ecclectic ensemble. By the end of 2018, Wellington star Trombonist, Kaito Walley, added his masterful musicianship to the band bringing a long awaited presence of brass to the progressive-funkers. After refining their sound and exploring new musical inspirations, OddJive is excited to have an album's worth of new material to share with their friends, family, fans and strangers alike and we're lucky to be working alongside renowned audio engineer, Chris Winter, in order to create the best possible sound. As with any big creative project, there are costs involved and OddJive needs help in raising the money as well as meeting a deadline; our wonderful and talented drummer, Guy Chisholm, is leaving NZ early 2020 and so we need to begin laying the drum tracks in mid January 2020. Guy has been an integral part of writing the new tunes so it's important he's with us in the recording. We're looking to raise $3000 in order to record all the drum tracks before Guy dashes our shores. Any excess money will be put towards recording the rest of the tracks as well as looking into packaging and distribution of the album. You can find OddJive's previous releases on their bandcamp at https://oddjive.bandcamp.com/ You can also donate money through purchasing any of the previous recordings from bandcamp or coming to one of our energetic gigs! We can't wait to share our new music with you. Thank you so much for supporting!
