Hello there, My name is Melanie van Voornveld, I have a dream, which is also a rather large goal I would like to achieve. I have danced my whole life, and recently I graduated Performing Arts School right here in Auckland New Zealand. Recently I was accepted into The Edge Performers school in Melbourne Australia.
This is a one year elite training programe which covers, classical ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, funk, hip hop, tap, musical theatre, singing and drama. This year I plan to raise the funds I need to attend this year of schooling and prepare to learn from some of the best dancers and dance teachers in Australisia. I need to raise the funds for one years tuition ($7500) and living costs like, accomodatilon food inner city travel.($10,000) I wish to learn from the best so I can come back here to New Zealand and have a better quality of dance teaching for any students I teach
While growing up in Invercargill she was submerged in the arts. She left Invercargill for Auckland in 2009 and at the age of 17 began studying at Excel School of Performing Arts as a Dance Major, Drama minor. After graduating this National certificate she went on to complete three further years of study at East . In 2012 she graduated with a Diploma in Dance and Theatre Arts and Diploma in Dance teaching. She also completed her Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Associate in Modern Theatre Dance.
Artists Vision
I love how we are all individuals; no two people are the same. Although people try to follow the trends or follow someone, we all have those little things that makes us, us. In all areas of performing or teaching this is a key aspect that I believe to be most important. It allows the audience to see the performer’s soul in what they are doing, it allows them to truly feel and encapsulate what the performer is trying to portray.
Artists Philosophy
I have a strong belief that Performance Art has the ability to communicate with an audience in a way that no other Art form can. If you are communicating with dance, acting singing or choreography, they all come from the soul of the performer or choreographer. I believe that a teacher and especially a choreographer have the ability to draw qualities out of a performer that are individual to that performer. Individuality in this industry is very important to me in staying true to myself as an individual. In the future I hope to be acting more in TV and film, and be the owner/ operator of my own Dance and Theatre Arts Studio.
