Compound Press 2014 Chapbooks

Project 2014-01-18 12:48:57 +1300

**SECOND STRETCH GOAL WOW**

If we make it to $1,000, we will be able to pay for return flights for both Jackson Nieuwland and Carolyn DeCarlo from Wellington to Auckland for their book launch later in the year!

We will also celebrate the four-figure milestone by releasing the first ever Compound Press e-book by a (for now) secretively badass poet.  All pledgers will get a free copy, and it will be available to the public via some kind of pwyw scheme.

---

**ALSO** if you are an international contributor (donating from any country that is not New Zealand), please remember that you must add $5 NZD to your pledge amount for international shipping, in order to get your reward.

Compound Press plans to publish four poetry chapbooks in 2014.  We have acquired and solicited manuscripts from the following acclaimed New Zealand (resident) poets ...

Fiddlehead, by Steven Toussaint
... reimagining Rangitoto as Dante's mountain island of purgatory.

Arboretum, by Lee Posna
... posthumous reflection from the vacuum on the boundaries of the empire of the artist's vision and vicissitudes of his fruit.

Bound: an ode to falling in love, by Jackson Nieuwland & Carolyn DeCarlo
... collaborative collection of poems from the perspective(s) of Kimye.

Undisclosed hybrid text, by Ya-Wen Ho
... in which her signature recursive lines might even make their way into lattices and maps.

You can help us with a pledge towards the production costs of these wounderous texts, in all their beauty, complexity, and wyt—pitching a challenge to your conventional sense of comprehension.

With the rewards available for this project, your donation can be a simple expression of support, a pre-order in disguise, or a blockbuster contribution.

Compound 2013

Last year we published 3 completely self-funded chapbooks almost by accident.  With some actual cash at our disposal, we'll be able to continue putting out exquisite quality hand-made books, with greater intent and in larger runs than previously possible.

Compound Press has been the publisher of Minarets Poetry Journal for the last two years, connecting us to a strong stable of poets both national and international.

We're here to help bear the burden of all those disperate aesthetics out there with nice artisanal objects.

DUDES WE DID IT

Thanks to everyone for donating!

We'll be in touch soon to find out which book(s) you'd like as part of your reward.  Once we've made the damn things, we'll post them out :D

Annoying admin stuff

**SORRY BUT IT'S IMPORTANT**

Upon reviewing who has pledged, it has come to our attention that some (particularly US) folks have not included the $5 for international shipping with their relevant rewards.

In case it is not clear, we are based in New Zealand.

So if you are ordering from any other country, you need to add $5 NZD to your pledge amount.  I understand that PledgeMe allows you to update your pledge amount at any time.  Please do this, otherwise funding pledged by other nice people will have to be funnelled towards international shipping costs.

Note: If you pledge for one of the big rewards ($100+ Steeplechase hurdle, or $200+ Berlin Wall), no extra is required for international shipping.  You're such a hero that paying it for you is the least we can do :)

Great Wall of China Goal

THINGS KEEP GOING WELL :D

We're going to add in one more stretch goal, which will hopefully keep us going for the rest of the month...

If we make it to $1,000 NZD, that will allow us to also fly BOTH Jackson Nieuwland AND Carolyn DeCarlo from Wellington to Auckland for their book launch.  This would also be a very nice thing for us to be able to do.

Additionally, if we make the four-figure milestone, we will celebrate by releasing the very first Compound Press e-book.  By who?  That is a secret for now.  If things get close, maybe around $950, we might reveal the author(s) to encourage a final push.

Please continue to share and help us gain the resources to really help New Zealand poets.

Chris Holdaway

Stretch goal!

HOWDY FOLKS.

Having blown through the initial funding target, we've got an additional goal to encourage people to keep pledging :)

If we make it to $800, we will be able to pay for return flights for Lee Posna from Wellington to Auckland for the book launch!  It would be great if we were able to do this, rather than forcing Lee to get his own plane tickets :D

Please share with anyone you think might be interested.  We've still got a month left to drive for funds!

HOLEST OF COWS WE GOT FUNDED IN JUST TWO DAYS

Never thought this would go so quickly ... now we've got two months to ride out before the project closes.

So we're looking at coming up with some additional stretch goals to encourage further pledges.  Not sure exactly what that will entail yet, but stay tuned.

Immeasureable thanks to everyone who has donated already.  This is a great chance to really set Compound Press up for life :)

Chur,
