Collab Project with Fringe
The Wellington Fringe Festival is an open-access festival held every summer involving a wide range of shows across all artforms in venues throughout the city.
Red Nose Reverie is the début piece for Zig Zag Theatre, in Wellington's 2014 Fringe Festival. Inspired by the family history of Zig Zag founding member Renee Pritchard (descended from a travelling circus. I know, right?!), Red Nose Reverie is a fantastical and heart-warming story about 3 clowns, their adventures around the world and life in a constant state of The-Show-Must-Go-On.
But alas, with no funding, promoting our show and making it look nice on stage may prove to be a wee bit tricky. Probably do-able, with some poster-paper and and sweet felt tip pens if we really need to, but even that stuff isn't cheap.
We would love to see this show reach its full potential where possible, and at this stage need money for publicity (design, print, distribution) and if we can, some simple set and costume pieces.
If you can help at all, we would be endlessly grateful, and you may even get some cheeky wee rewards! If you can't contribute but would like to help, sharing this link with your friends and sending some warm fuzzies our way will be equally appreciated.
Who are we?
Zig Zag Theatre is the love child of Renee Pritchard and Abby Rainbow, named after the actual circus troupe that Renee's great-great-great-great grandparents belonged to and fell in love in (cuuute).
Renee Pritchard is a Theatre graduate from Victoria University, and in the past year has been busy stage managing (My Kitchen Kills, directed by Paul McLaughlin), assistant directing (Dragonlore, directed by Richard Dey), production managing (Stages of Fear), and acting (Pandemic, directed by Kerryn Palmer). Red Nose Reverie will be Renee's first original creative work.
Abby Rainbow like Renee is a Victoria University graduate who studied theatre and psychology. Her obvious love for people are shown by her majors. Her tag line to explain why she chose her degree explains it all - "to learn how people are crazy and act like them". Abby has harnessed her skills of stage management and production management during this years fringe with the critically acclaimed show Home by Freya Desmarais. She has continued to grow and learn during Young and Hungry's 2013 season with Dragonlore directed by Richard Dey. Abby is really excited to start working on this exciting new project Red Nose Reverie.
