Project 2013-10-25 03:52:53 +1300
A play for the 2014 Fringe Festival.
What happens in death? Where do you go? Necropolis: the city of the dead, in this play the journey of a newly deceased girl, Persephone, is displayed, and we watch as the world unfolds around her and she begins to bloom. Persephone, who ventures into the City of the Dead, has to find her place in this surreal landscape. At the same time she plays an important part in the shift from the traditional worship of the god Tlaloc, a god of the Aztec people to the new rule of Mictlan, lady of the dead, and thus her worship through Dia De Los Muertos. We see this takeover of the underworld and it's repercussions for Persophone and the underworld city.
This play is inspired by Greek and Aztec culture surrounding death and the modern Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead.
Our Team Consists of one Lana Burns. Me below.
And an Alysse Fitzgerald, whom stars in the cover photo.
