Welcome to Wairau Pride's crowdfunding page!
We are thrilled to invite you to be part of history as we gear up for Wairau's very first Pride Festival. This festival is not just an event; it's a celebration of love, diversity, and acceptance. Every donation, big or small, helps us create a vibrant, inclusive festival that truly represents our community.
This year, we will paint the town rainbow—literally! Your generous donation of $120 will fund a beautiful rainbow flag to be proudly displayed on street lamp posts throughout Te Waiharakeke during the festival. This visual celebration of LGBTQ+ pride is crucial for visibility, showing support and solidarity that can uplift and inspire everyone in our community.
Beyond just flags, we have an exciting lineup of events planned. The festival will kick off on Friday, June 14th 2024, with a moving karakia to honor the land and the people who paved the way before us, setting a respectful and inclusive tone for the festivities. As we wrap up, prepare for a high-energy closing celebration on Saturday June 22nd 2024, featuring talented DJs and fabulous drag queens from around the country! Throughout the week, we've packed the schedule with a variety of events designed to educate, celebrate, and inject diversity into our community. From thought-provoking discussions at the hui, to our community and family day, Wairau Pride promises an unforgettable experience for all.
Every contribution brings us closer to making Wairau Pride a beacon of hope and celebration, where every single one of us can proudly express who we are, everyday. Join us in making this inaugural Pride Festival a landmark event that will echo throughout our community for years to come.

We did it, we hit our funding goal - but we need to keep going!!
Through your generosity, we will be able to paint Wairau rainbow this pride. Keep your eyes up this June as x30 rainbow flags hit the streets - Incredible!!
But this is just the beginning, we need to keep the momentum. The more we raise the more we can do for our rainbow communities. We've got so many events planned for Pride and each of these come with their own requirements and price tags.
Keep sharing with your family and friends, and know that your support is making a monumental difference to many.
