Bees And Weeds

Right..... I have ideas, lots of lofty ideas. I really want to help save the planet but I may have set my goals too high to start with!!

I'm Shannon. I was made redundant a few months ago and have decided to make my own business doing something I really enjoy. I have started a business called Bees and Weeds which is based around urban self-sufficiency. The main goals of my business are to increase urban bee hives, plant wild flowers randomly everywhere to increase the bees food, help people save money through rain water collection and vegetable and fruit gardens.... the list goes on :)

 Now is where things get a bit ambitious... I also want to help families that are struggling to feed their children, by setting them up fruit and vegetable gardens to supplement their food. The long term goal of this business is to create a community garden (preferably on a corner of my own piece of land but the only way that is going to happen in the near future is if i get to claim it during a zombie apocolypse lol)  to provide free veges and fruit to the local community, with bee hives, chickens, rainwater tanks and compost to take home for their own gardens to improve the soil.

The money that is pledged to me will be used for timber and frames to make my own bee hives and a greenhouse so that I can raise seedlings all year round.

About Me

I have just finished studying Apiculture, so i can look after my bees as best as possible, and offer my skills to others, i have also completed a Certificate in Business Ownership and am soon about to embark apon a Certificate in Organic Horticulture...... I think you can see where I am headed :)

In the perfect world i would run away to Alaska or Doon and live a totally self-sufficent livestyle but no one i love will come with me, so I will make that for myself and any one else interested, in the back yard :)
