SHOWING THE WORLD THAT BEAUTY COMES IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES!
I entered Miss World NZ 2013 for many reasons. Near the top of the list is this: I remember as a little girl watching Miss World and hoping one day I'd be as tall, beautiful and accomplished as the girls on the TV. I grew up just fine but never quite reached the sky heights of a 6'0 model, in fact I fell short at 5'4. So for many years I didn't enter because everywhere I looked beauty had a certain height attached to it. Now, I'm doing it. Because people aren't just going to change their mind by themselves and if I'm going to preach beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, then I need to practice it.THE PAGEANT INVOLVES:
Weekly rehearsals, industry tutorials, events (Incl. Walk for Water, Walk for Well-Being, Miss Junior NZ and more), fashion shows (Incl. Sarah Horton Bridal & Evening Design, Massimo En Masque and more), photo-shoots (Incl. Andrew Bignall and Alex Tea) and competition days (Incl. Sports days, Prejudging and the Crowning). Charity is a significant component in many of the events we attend. In fact, during our campaigns we choose a charity to raise awareness for and hopefully some money. In 2007 I started volunteering for the Heart Foundation and have maintained the connection ever since. It's a cause close to my heart, affecting 49% of NZders each year. In 1996, when I was 8, heart disease claimed my Dad. It's a loss I've never 100% gotten over and so I work to raise awareness in the hope that another little girl out there WILL get to keep her Dad.To take part in MWNZ there is an entry fee of $1500. With the support of Toiariki, Tomuri & Co. Floral Design and the Tack Shop I am halfway there. The generosity of my family, friends and perhaps a few good Samaritan's is what's going to push me over the line. My journey will not be a statement alone, there will also be self-betterment along the way and a strong focus on the Heart Foundation.
I will post updates on my MWNZ journey on my Official Candidate FB page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Angela-Cudd-Official-Miss-World-NZ-2013-Candidate/130887627076470

These borrowed words help drive me to take part in MWNZ and I’d like to encourage YOU all to also take up challenges despite barriers or discouraging norms. If you believe it, you can achieve it.
