About

Thinking Digital

Project 2013-03-22 22:58:29 +1300

We (Tara TJ and Jo Fothergill) are raising funds so that we can take up the offer to speak at the Thinking Digital UK conference in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in May. We are two primary school teachers who, in term two, are on a research sabbatical to investigate innovative classroom assessment practices that we will bring back to NZ and share with the wider education community. The video above will give you insight into our research topic.

We were initially self-funding our trip to the UK where we will be visiting schools around the UK in the search for innovative ideas. Being accepted to speak at this conference is a great honour (and also a surprise!) and we cannot let this wonderful opportunity go. Therefore, we are fundraising to raise the cost of our London-Newcastle travel and accommodation while in Newcastle (May 21st - 23rd). We expect the cost of this to be around $1500.

We are the first Kiwis to be invited to present at this conference and the only classroom teachers announced in the first 25 speakers for 2013 (alongside people from Google, BBC, TED, Boeing, the UK Government, and even a former pirate). Being a part of this event will enable us to make great connections as well as learning more about the future, technology and other world changing ideas. We will gain insight into new tools to make a difference, impact the world and learn how to create new and big ideas For more information see: http://www.thinkingdigital.co.uk/speakers/2013

Target met

09/04/2013 at 10:42 PM

Well, having posted an 'almost at target' update we've now actually surpassed our target. Thanks to all of our pledgers.

As stated already, any funds over our target that we receive will be used to help pay for our school visits during June/July this year. If you are a NZ school based pledger and you'd like us to visit you at your school please let us know.

Blown Away

06/04/2013 at 5:34 AM

Thanks to all our wonderful pledgers. We've been blown away by the generosity of people and the speed at which it has happened.

We are nearly at target with 21 days to go. If we go over target we will use the extra funds to visit and share our knowledge with any interested schools/teachers/students.
