WELCOME TO DUNEDIN PRIDE 2013!
On Saturday 6 April 2013
Dunedin will be celebrating Pride! The Festival aims to create
visibility of the Dunedin LGBTI-Queer Community and to provide a
space to celebrate diversity.
The event is being organised
voluntarily by the Dunedin Pride Organising Committee Co-ordinated by
Hahna Briggs and Beth Nathan, and with the help of many others.
The Committee is doing a call-out for Volunteers for the day and to
help in the lead-up.
The Committee has received funding from
the Dunedin City Council, Creative Communities Dunedin Scheme and the
Otago Community Trust - many thanks! We are needing more
funding to cover the high costs of printing, advertising, promotion,
sound equipment, performance and festival materials so we can reach
out to as many people as possible.
Dunedin Pride welcomes people of
all genders and sexualities; gay and straight, and aims to be as
inclusive as possible.
Details of the event:
* In the Octagon from 1 - 4 pm will be an afternoon community
festival lead by the amazing MC 'Samiam'. Featuring local and
national bands, performances and loads of games and activities for the whole family.
* From 9 pm the Pride After-Party will take
place hosted by New Zealand's most famous Drag Queen - 'Miss Ribena'!
The party will feature local and national acts such as 'Manthyng,'
'Bruce Tiffany', 'Count Blakula', and many many more.
