Collab Project with Fringe

The Wellington Fringe Festival is an open-access festival held every summer involving a wide range of shows across all artforms in venues throughout the city.

A Collection of Noises is a new Grand Guignol (realistic horror) play about a troubled girl, image and revenge; premiering as part of the 2013 New Zealand Fringe Festival. Set entirely in a black and white world, this horror/thriller will be scarier and more violent than anything you’ve ever seen before onstage. This one woman play looks at our obsession with appearances and just how unhealthy that can become for some people.

Synopsis
Alice is a girl with ambitions to be a photographer. There’s something about catching the beauty of a moment forever that’s appealing to her. She has the equipment, the ability, the drive – even a model she looks up to. Nothing should go wrong . . . but it does. Make-up is harder to emulate than it looks. It’s impossible for Alice to get her hair right. The guy she loves isn’t falling for her. Her friend isn’t as reliable as she would like her to be. With so many problems building up, Alice is feeling the pressure. Sometimes when people are a problem, you just need to give them the cut.

Team
Writer/director Alexander Sparrow’s play writing debut follows extensive theatre experience – including performing at the Globe Theatre in London as part of SGCNZ YSC 2011. Alice Sherwood King is a talented actress who has performed twice at the National SGCNZ UOSWSF and is an alumnus of the National Youth Drama School. Together, they form the group Sparrow & Son.

Funding details/Advertising
The group is looking for the last $600 needed to fulfill all budget requirements. The money earned is going towards the purchase and assembly of our detailed set, costuming, make-up and marketing. Our advertising is live online, and funds will allow for posters to follow it.

A Collection of Noises runs at The Fringe Bar, 191 Cuba Street, Wellington from 1st March until 2nd March at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at

- there are also door sales each night. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students/Fringe addicts/Fringe artists.
