Lost In A Moment With You
Project 2012-12-31 02:00:29 +1300
In a performance down on the street, there is this point in the rendition of a piece or a song when the busker is lost in his own sounds, so much so that he is in his own world. But like other people on the street that pass him by, I am sure you don’t notice this. Either because you are not drawn in by the type of music he is playing or you simply don’t have the time to spare. If so than this is what you miss out on. A rare chance to see this performing artist drown himself in his music and be lost all to himself where there is nothing but the sweet sounds that emanate from his fingers tips or lips.
The busy street side stage is no more than a fragment of his mind screaming to be noticed. The sound of coin being dropped into his collection box, most often his instrument case, goes unacknowledged as he plays on not wanting to come out of this trench like state that he has played himself into. But all this is lost in a moment. Lost to the fast paced commuters and shoppers who pass by the busker, momentarily stopping to drop a coin, failing greatly to experience what it feels like to be lost in that moment there and then. This project aims to capture that moment. It aims to sustain this momentary bliss. To hold it in time that the fast paced passer- by may be able to return to time and again and be lost in that moment.
About the Artist.
Leonard Tebegetu is a self taught visual artist specialising in acrylics. He recently moved to Auckland to be with his wife and until he returns home to Papua New Guinea in 2014, he hopes to produce a series of paintings that celebrate his time here. He runs a daily blog on which he share's sketches of Auckland and his artistic exploits did land him an exhibition in Wellington in 2011. He has a small but strong following in Papua New Guinea and around the globe and hopes to use his personalised style of "distorted realism" to give back to a city and people of Auckland for what is surely to be a turning point in his artistic career.
I would like to say thank you in advance, to everyone who will contributing. Your contributions will go along way not only in helping the artist to develop but also the many self taught artist in Papua New Guinea who will ultimately benefit from this experience and the proceeds from an exhibition of the paintings from the project thereafter. Heart felt thank you once again to everyone.
