Downlights Wax Melter Fundraising Campaign

Downlights want to buy specialised equipment that our Downlights Crew need, most importantly a wax melter with pouring wand.
Every Downlights candle is made with artisan techniques that is 20+ steps long. Some steps in the process are too hard for some of our Downlights Crew.
Currently, we pour with 3kg jugs that are filled from a 40kg wax melter and then have fragrance added to them. The jugs are heavy and cumbersome for our Downlight Crew and we often have little spills or overfills.
Downlights want to make ALL steps in the candle making process accessible to ALL our Crew so they can become Chief Candle Makers like Queen Kirsty.
The new wax melter still allows us to hand pour but has a lightweight dispensing wand and automatic measuring gauge for precise pouring. It will give EVERY Downlights Crew member the opportunity and ability to pour candles!
We would also like to buy equipment like adjustable benches, steps and seats that some of our Downlights Crew need to be comfortable. At present we are using temporary solutions like boxes.
Downlights is a PledgeMe Alumni following our successful equity crowdfunding campaign earlier in 2020. From this campaign we were able to move into a new, bigger Downlights HQ and our increased manufacturing capacity and increased sales meant we could hire two new Downlights Crew members! We made THIS thank you video from the day we moved into Downlights HQ.
Downlights was also granted Living Wage accreditation, in acknowledgement of our commitment to all Downlights Crew members from their first day of employment.
In September Downlights was honoured to win the Diversity Award 2020 for the Breaking Barriers category. You can see the judges feedback and case study HERE
With this fundraiser, we will take Downlights to even greater heights as a role model for workplace diversity and inclusion.
