M3 Mindfulness For Children Ltd >>> Early Childhood Videos

Project 2020-02-17 18:57:26 +1300

WHAT IS M3?

Since 2006, the use of anxiety and anti-depressant medicine in children has risen by 80% in New Zealand. Our tamariki need a hand with their emotional wellbeing.

M3 Mindfulness for children can help!

https://m3mindfulnessforchildren.com/

M3 is an educational programme delivered live and online as videos. Right now, it is used as a bilingual resource for teachers, parents and primary school children throughout Aotearoa.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to what is going on right NOW. It is a simple task but difficult to master. M3 teaches Mindfulness with simple breathwork and visualisation to the themes of our Māori pūrākau or stories. The children learn simple, slow Movement to somatise the stories in their bodies.

Award-winning facilitator Jase Te Patu has created a simple but effective programme, encouraging our tamariki to pay attention to their emotions and self-regulate when they feel challenged. It is non-religious and inclusive as a practice.

M3 has enjoyed great success in the Primary School sector, but we are finding that this work can be done at a much earlier age.

M3 Researcher Dr. Paul Jose - Professor of Psycholgy at Victoria University Wellington says “A programme like M3 that teaches young children in kindy years to regulate their mind, regulate their bodies and their behaviours, sets a really good foundation for later success in grade (primary) school".

THE IMPACT

With your help, M3 aims to create a suite of 10 videos as a learning resource for Early Childhood teachers/parents, and most importantly our tamariki aged 0-5 years old.

M3 will deliver into the Mana Atua and Mana Whenua principles of the Early Childhood Curriculum.

A tremendous amount of social and emotional development takes place during early childhood. As our children experience temper tantrums, mood swings, and an expanding social world, they must learn more about their emotions as well as those of other people.

Kate, Centre Manager at Best Start Tawa in Wellington says -"We loved having you (Jase) share your knowledge and skills of M3 Mindfulness. The strategies you taught the kaiako and tamariki have become embedded in practice now and a regular part of our daily routine. These videos will contribute to the kaiako and tamariki being able to practice all of your stories through the art of mindfulness".

There is a demand and need for some simple resources such as our proposed ECE videos. Our campaign is to create just that... we have a blueprint with the Primary videos, we have a captive audience, we have presenters and we have the crew all set ready to film…

But we can't do it alone!

OUR PLAN

We need your help to film 10 videos with 10 simple Māori stories. The goal of our M3 campaign is to raise a minimum of $10,000 for all the videos.

The funds will go towards

- Video Creation/Research and Presentation

- Recording and editing

- Story Animation and Design

- Equipment and Venue Hire

Centres including our kōhanga reo will be able to access the videos from anywhere and anytime through the Vimeo online platform. Teachers can use this programme… parents can practice this programme at home with their tamariki ...and our children will find the mahi easy to follow.

Whether it’s $5, $150 or $1000, your awhi and support would be greatly appreciated! Our kaupapa at M3 is 'to create mindful children throughout Aotearoa' but it goes further than that. Imagine a New Zealand where our future leaders learn tools to become robust, resilient, happy, focused, calm, grateful and peaceful humans or an Aotearoa where suicide rates are lower and the use of anxiety and anti-depressant medicine is reduced.

That can start now… with our children… and M3!

One of our Māori whakataukī sums up this campaign beautifully -

He taonga te mokopuna, kia whāngaia, kia tipu, kia rea - A child is a treasure to be nurtured, to grow and to flourish!

Tēnā rawa atu koutou katoa  - Thank you for your support!

MILLY TAYLOR

Auckland Trainer

Iwi - Ngāti Pākehā

Milly grew up in Auckland as a very active kid; dancing, running and swimming throughout her school life. When she left school, she fell in love with vinyasa yoga, especially the physicality and the dance-like aspects of the practice. She started yoga at 16 years and has been teaching yoga since completing her 200hr RYT with Jase in 2017. It was here that she dropped deeper into the true benefits of yoga - beyond the physical.

Milly lived in Canada for two years and taught on the ski fields, where she also trained as a Vinyasa Yoga for Youth teacher with Ryan Leier in Saskatoon. Milly brings her passion for yoga, her curiosity for Māori culture and a desire to share mindfulness with our kiwi kids to the M3 teaching team.

Wishing you and your family health and blessings at this time. Ngā manaakitanga!

Thank you once again for your support. If you have friends, colleagues or family who want to support our important mahi, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND SHARE.

More than ever our children need some resources to help with their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing… M3 can help.

We’ll let you know how we go a little nearer to the end. Once again we appreciate your support in such a difficult time!

    Kia ora e te iwi

We can't thank you enough for your support big and small. At a time where help is needed in many different ways around the world, yours is deeply appreciated by our M3 whānau.

We achieved our goal of $10,000 - THANK YOU!

While our country moves into Alert Level 4 and our schools and Early Childhood centres shut down, online initiatives such as our M3 Mindfulness for children videos are more important than ever. That said, we’ have made the M3 Online resource for Primary schools FREE on our Youtube Channel https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLO27UAuimTzLrnlq6XaYFy78SV29yDx5_ to help parents and children at home during this time.

We have 6 days left of the campaign and  a stretch goal of $20K!

    With this money we will

ensure that the 10 ECE videos are of the highest quality

allow us to train 2 more trainers, one in Auckland and one in the South Island to deliver the programme live in ECEs and schools. The implementation of the programme in centres and schools will be needed even more after these unsettling times

allow for 5 x Early Childhood centres and 5 x Primary school throughout NZ s to have the programme delivered live COMPLIMENTARY (currently the schools Contract our team to deliver on-site)

How can you help? SPREAD THE WORD PLEASE… far and wide! Help us to help our teachers, parents and tamariki. Share with your family and friends, any Pledge is appreciated.

    Huge love and deep gratitude.

Kia haumaru e hoa mā - Jase, Rinaha and Emily x
