BaristaCats Café Is Relocating! Help Us Keep Auckland’s Only Cat Café Going.

BaristaCats Café is a cat café right in the heart of Auckland's CBD. We are home to 13 resident rescue cats as well as several foster cats with a particular focus on older cats and ones with special needs.
To spend time with our colourful clowder of cats, we charge an entry fee which goes directly back towards the cats' care and running of the café, their forever home. We have been open since 1 December 2015 but on 1 October 2020 the lease at our current premises comes to an end.
While we are very proud of where we're at coming in to our 5th year, the location and space has its challenges so consequently we are looking to move to premises that is more conducive and supportive of having a cat café in the area.
Our hope is to be in a space that will allow us to have more foster cats, establishing ourselves as a central adoption centre for our partner rescue Franklin Cat Rescue. In addition we would like to change up the layout so that the cat and dining areas are separate, dedicated spaces which we feel would refine our day-to-day operations. We would also ideally like to be in premises that are on a ground level so we can accommodate guests with accessibility needs.
Above all else we are committed to continuing to be a forever home to our furry family as well as being able to provide a space for people who can’t have cats, who are missing their cats back home or simply love cats, a place to be able to get their cat fix. This is where YOU come in. To achieve all this, we need your help!
Moving is stressful and expensive at the best of times and is even moreso when moving a business with 17 cats in tow. Consequently this is why we have set up this crowdfunding page - to help us raise much needed funds to help with this mammoth task.
All pledges will contribute primarily towards the fit out of the new premises, overlapping rent and temporary accommodation for the cats and to say thank you, each pledger will receive a reward. There are different tiers of rewards - the more you give, the more you'll get! In addition every single pledger will have their name on our thank you 'wall of fame' at the new premises.
We have set the target as the minimum we would need to help get us on the right track; in actuality ideally almost double of this would go a long way to helping us afford other things on our 'wish list'. Every little bit helps though so any donation, big or small, will be so very much appreciated.

Hi everyone! For those who pledged and elected to receive a reward, we will be emailing you this weekend to advise next steps.
For those who have reached out or if you’ve been wondering what’s going on - sorry for the delay. We did mean to get in touch a wee bit sooner but we’ve had quite a bit going on! With over 300 pledgers, it has taken some time for both the PledgeMe team to process the pledges and on our end to ensure we have a robust plan in place for smooth reward redemption. Additionally we were waiting on when we would get to Alert Level 1 which meant we could allow more flexibility with people just popping in to collect their reward.
We are the quintessential small business and social enterprise - completely independently run and as owners we also hold full-time jobs to help sustain the business. It’s been a challenging, stressful time and Covid-19 has hit us hard especially being closed for nearly 2 months. We’ve been juggling keeping the business afloat over Alert Level 2 and now Level 1 while also looking to the future with our impending move specifically we’ve been busy scouting for new premises.
If you are still keen to support us during this time you can either donate on our Givealittle (set up primarily to contribute to our cats’ ongoing care + vet bills) or you can simply book in a time to visit our furry family! While it’s great we are in Level 1, small businesses like ours still have it tough and need your support now more than ever to keep going.
