Christchurch is on track to having a world-class music industry hub that helps local talent thrive with the opening of SOLE Music Academy's new purpose-built space.

For the past two years, SOLE Music Academy has specialised in vocal and songwriting sessions, production skills and artist development, operating from a single studio located at The Piano. Due to growth and demand, in February 2020, SOLE will move to its new premises on the ground floor of the historic Woods Mill Building in Addington, and we can’t wait to bring this beautiful grand old lady back to life!

SOLE Music Academy was established to de-mystify the music industry by making sure every student is equipped with the necessary tools, skills and knowledge to enable them to achieve their goals, no matter how high. 

However, ensuring our musicians and community have the quality rooms, gear and technology

they deserve isn’t cheap! We want to create two beautiful teaching spaces, and three music studio pods all equipped with recording gear.

We need your help to deliver this to our students and make Christchurch a reputable musical hub in Aotearoa. The fit-out bill is getting close to $200,000, but after years of dreaming and saving, one final push is needed and we would love the public’s help!

Each of our purpose built rooms will cost up to $10,000 to fit out with quality gear to create the ultimate learning environment for the students. Each room will consist of: Recording and Live microphones, Interfaces, Studio Speakers, Computers, Recording Software, Headphones, Keyboards, Guitars, PA Sound Systems, Mixers, Projectors and Acoustic Panels.

For decades, our local talent has been forced to look further afield for greener pastures, it’s time for Christchurch to take the power back by nurturing and providing opportunity, support and a hub for our Christchurch talent to collaborate.

SOLE delivers quality music session skills, knowledge from industry professionals, and up to date guidance and advice on how to ‘bridge the gap’ and make a career in today’s music industry whether you’re the talent, or the business.

Sacha Vee - The boss lady, who established SOLE Music Academy and is also a 3 x platinum award winning artist and songwriter, to date garnered over 40 million youtube views, won 'Fryderyk Hip Hop album of the year' in Poland 2017, released 3 records on BBE Records (UK) and Sweet Soul Records (Japan) and featured on more than 30 collaborations on labels all around the world.

KAMANDI - Internationally respected producer and artist on Red Bull Sound Select and Brainfeeder (US). He has been named one of the leading lights of NZ's contemporary electronic scene and has had tens of millions on online plays across all streaming platforms. His recent album 'Voices' was featured on Billboard, his track 'High' featured on Netflix series 'TopBoy' and his music can also be heard on Vogue advertising campaigns worldwide.

Will McGillivray - Multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and lead singer of kiwi band NOMAD. Recently signed to Warner NZ their music has had millions of plays on spotify with their stand out track 'Oh My My'. Will has also produced 'Nat & Jono' debut EP 'We Can Only Laugh'.

Georgie Clifford - This beautiful lady has been making a name for herself both here and abroad with her incredible voice and musicianship. She has been slowly building her social media empire with over 40k followers which has lead her to record her debut album in LA and now opening for Bruno Major both here and Australia and soon to be his world tour!

Indie Pop Duo Nat & Jono featuring in local media with the release of their debut EP 'We Can Only Laugh' featuring their stand out track 'Constellations' with the help of SOLE Music Academy. As part of the Artist Development programme SOLE helped to established a platform for the talented duo and guide them through the process of writing, recording, producing and releasing their debut EP ‘We Can Only Laugh’ to a sold out EP release show. Their music has been streamed over 100k, reviewed on international blogs and Nat recently went onto win the Rockquest Final in 2019.

Monet Schutte, 13yr just won the UNICEF International Songwriting Competition "Sounds of Children's Rights" in Austria with her original song she wrote with the help of SOLE called 'Like You Did Before'. Monet flew with her parents to perform the song solo in the Vienna Concert Hall where got a standing ovation and she took out 1st place! Monet has been studying under Sacha Vee for the past two and half years.

SOLE delivers private and group sessions for beginners through to advanced and tailored bespoke packages for emerging and established artists.

• Music Business: It’s not all about the notes, learn how to be entrepreneurial in today's commercial music industry and how to make money from music. Starting in 2020

• Music Harmony & Theory: Take your craft and develop your own musical style by understanding why music sounds the way it does. Starting in 2020

• DJing: Learn how to take your producing to the live stage or mix your favourite tracks. Starting in 2020

What will the money go towards?

The money will go towards equipping all 5 rooms with quality music gear so that the students can produce industry-standard recordings of their own music, and perform with live setups that will enable them to become performance ready for any event.
