AUCKLAND'S QUEER STRIP CLUB

We want to host a strip club night for queers, by queers! An evening of erotic art & live performances that is a safe and inclusive space. Our goal is to raise awareness of the fact that strip clubs do not pay their dancers an hourly wage, and we want to do this by hosting a night where we pay them a base fee, on top of whatever tips they earn on the night.

We also want to de-stigmatise this important line of work, and redefine what sensuality looks like by putting on a beautiful, artful, sex positive night.

But most importantly, we want to create a safe space for trans & gender diverse dancers, who often don't feel safe enough to perform elsewhere. We want to create change by celebrating all bodies and by making this experience accessible to queer patrons who may not otherwise feel comfortable in a traditional strip club.

This space is for those who have always wanted to embrace their erotic side and go to a strip club, but didn't feel like that space was for them. This is a place for queer performers, and queer patrons to come together.

Our little team of passionate sex positive queers are the right people to do this because we have had personal experiences with how mainstream strip clubs work, and we want to do better! We want to dismantle the heteronormative gaze that usually occupies strip clubs and replace it with our own queer as f*ck lens.

We want to ask our queer community all over Aotearoa to help sponsor this event so that it can finally become a reality! The money raised will go towards :

  • The dancers hourly wages (the most important part!)
  • Security (vital in creating a safe space for the dancers)
  • A slammin DJ
  • Venue & Equipment hire
  • Promotional material
  • Paying the artists who helped us

Our current budget is enough to just make the night happen, but we would love to raise at least $3,200 because we want to make sure all our queer whānau who helped us gets paid for their time and mahi. If we have hit our budget please keep giving, as you can be sure every dollar will be going towards the queer artists we are working with, and hopefully THE NEXT EVENT!

If you have ever wanted to support your local queer community, now is your chance! If you live outside of Tāmaki Makaurau and can’t attend but still want to support, check out our amazing array of rewards like tote bags & limited edition Polaroids!
