About

“INTER ALIA”

Project 2019-07-23 19:24:38 +1200

  1. A Sci-Fi and Black Comedy theme short film project which has been developed for the past 5 months as our year 3 final project at AUT. The film Inter Alia is a narrative story of a black male who is searching for his missing wife around Auckland City, and as the story develops, Marco discovers himself and begins to understand that he is used in his relationship as a sexual companion. At the end of the film, he has to choose either keep the memory or forget everything. The meaning behind the story originally comes from Jhan, who has a close friendship with the black community in New Zealand. Jhans objective of the film is to reflect the real-life struggle of black people, and how the majority sometimes unavoidably take advantage of the minority. We will be taking on the idea that some may feel that they are invisible and muted in today's society. The film is also a narrative of the dark, deep struggle of being a minority.

Jhan and I (Sammie) are third-year AUT students majoring in TV Screen Production. We are hoping our film will be able to raise the awareness of the issues and to encourage discussion and acceptance from the majority of people in society. We are also aiming to enter into film competitions after it’s completed as our final university assignment. Jhan is the writer and director, and Sammie is the producer of this film. We are both passionate to speak up for the minority group in our society today. Turning this film into science fiction and a black comedy theme movie will come with its challenges for us both, as we have entirely different backgrounds. However, we do come with experience from different cultural backgrounds. Together we would be able to make this film real.

Our fundraising goal is to raise $2000 to cover the catering, transporting, costumes & props, rent for the film shoot locations and post-production costs. The extra funds raised from the fundraising will allow us to invest in better quality of production. And the rest of funds will go towards our crew and cast members who helped with our project, including actors, volunteers and post-production team as we would love to reward and support our production team for all their hard work and great efforts that they put towards the project.

We appreciate the donation from any individual to support our film. We decided to set up a different level of reward structure for your support and generosity. And for those who donated $50 or more, will receive a soft copy of the final production, a movie poster signed by the actors and you will also be thanked in the credits.
