About

The Pineapple Jukebox Dance Show

Project 2012-11-06 05:31:29 +1300

Our project

Pineapple Productions is an Auckland based dance production company created by the French choreographer and performer Julie Anterrieu. The company has been selected to perform during the Auckland Fringe Festival 2013 at the Q Theatre for 4 dates running from 20th-23rd February 2013. During this great festival, Pineapple Productions will be presenting the second season of The Pineapple Jukebox Dance Show.

The total cost of the project is $7000. Your pledge towards this project will support the venue hire. In the meantime, the company will work towards getting funds for the costumes, set design and studios hire through private functions, busking and workshops. No matter how much you’d like to give, every contribution is important in bringing this original show to the Auckland stage !

What is The Pineapple Jukebox Dance Show?

It's an original and interactive audience-picked-with-care programme. As you enter, you will be given a playlist and a few unsuspecting show-goers will receive a special Pineapple Coin allowing them to decide on the running order of the show. The Jukebox Dance Show displays every time a different set, making each experience unique.

After holding onto the Dance Jukebox concept in the back of her head for 6 long years, choreographer Julie Anterrieu finally found in her company Pineapple Productions, the dance abilities and potential to give life to her exciting idea.

Why support us?

Switching from French Cancan to Classical Ballet, fast paced Charleston to slow acrobatic chair moves, vintage high heeled pin up to grunge contemporary and this all in a matter of minutes - Pineapple dancers love their art so much that they are willing to try any style. They are crazy enough to refine this many pieces, unsure of which ones they will perform and what the running order will be.

The Jukebox Dance Show represents what Pineapple Productions is all about: allowing our audience to experience different dance styles in one evening. The Jukebox Dance Show is on for 4 evenings, giving you 40 chances to get a coin and displaying every time a different set, making each show unique.

Who are we?

Producer: Geraldine Clermont

Hello Pineapple Pledgers,

The Pineapple Jukebox Dance Show season at the Q Theatre is over: 4 performances, more than 300 audience members, 40 acts performed, 4 raffle baskets won, 9 happy performers, 12 sponsors, lots of smiles and laughs ..... A big thanks to YOU for being part of this great journey!

The entire amount of money raised via Pledgeme went towards the production of the show: costumes, set design, technicians, photographer, venue hire and fees, posters, flyers, crew parking tickets and food during the show. Pineapple Productions didn't make any profits but the huge success of the show will hopefully allow the company to get more performances opportunities and funding for the company itself!

2 weeks to go!

07/02/2013 at 4:50 AM

Dear pledgers,

Yesterday we met Michael from Auckland Counties Manukau Jukebox Hire. We discovered the beautiful 50's Jukebox he is lending us for the show. He bought in the US from Burger King! A real beauty!

As you know, one of the main idea behind the Pineapple Jukebox Dance Show is to share with the audience a wide variety of dance styles. If Pineapple dancers and choreographer have been working their legs off to bring such a diversity to you, we thought it would be even more interesting to ask other artists to share the stage with us. So we have invited different guests for each night! Here are they, just for you:

Wednesday 20/Saturday23: Balancing Act (Popping)

Thursday 21: Phoenix Belly Dance

Friday 22: Amira (Flamenco)

And because we never stop, we even did our second promo video!

We thought it was highly time that you meet the Jukebox Team. To make it a bit more fun we asked each of the 15 persons that will make this second season happen to answer a few questions.
