My opportunity
I'm Quinn Kueppers, a 17-year-old aspiring actor from Christchurch - and I'm so lucky: In July, I have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend two weeks at the famous Globe Theatre in London. Yes, that's Shakespeare's very own theatre, and I am so excited!
I will work with respected directors, will be part of workshops and rehearsals and in the end even perform on their stage. This experience will catapult me towards my dream of entering drama school. The trip is organised by the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ). I got into this programme through the SGCNZ National University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival. By playing Portia in a five minute scene from "The Merchant of Venice", I gained direct entry into the National Shakespeare Schools Production, a week long intensive course in Dunedin alongside 47 students from around New Zealand. From there, I was selected to go to London with 23 others as part of the Young Shakespeare Company 2019.
This is an opportunity that doesn't come around every day, and it will give me many priceless skills and experiences that I can take into an acting career.
Money
This will cost every one of us students $8500. It covers everything, including flights, accommodation, food, travel and course costs. I am raising $4000 myself through this campaign and other odd jobs, and my parents (Anke Richter & Frank Kueppers) will cover the rest. I have set my minimum target to $3000, but $4000 would be ideal. Any donation towards my trip, no matter what the amount, is greatly appreciated. As a thank you, everyone who donates more than $20 will be in the draw to win a lovely gift basket. filled with products, treats and vouchers from Christchurch businesses.
About Me
I am in my final year at the Christchurch Rudolf Steiner School where I have had some great parts in high-school productions - including Joseph from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat". I'm so passionate about acting that I take two drama classes outside of school (at Lyttelton Arts Factory and the Court Theatre) and singing lessons. I love my dog, my ukulele, painting, surfing, skiing and drag.
Thank you very much for your donation!
Thank you to SGCNZ for giving me this amazing opportunity. I'm already over the moon - but still need to fly there...
