About

🎶Zero Plastic Christmas🎶: An Educational Children’s Song

Project 2018-08-02 20:52:05 +1200

We ALL know that single-use plastic is a massive problem and has a devastating impact on our marine life. Over the Christmas period, that wastage only increases...

What is this project?

🎶Zero Plastic Christmas🎶  is an educational, New Zealand Christmas song for kids, endorsed by OSOF (Our Seas Our Future Charitable Trust) and supporting their Plastic Free NZ Brand.

Zero Plastic Christmas aligns with values from the NZ curriculum and is aimed at Primary School aged children. The lyrics discuss some of the actions we can take to eliminate plastic waste over the Christmas period - a fun challenge for kiwi kids and their families. Some examples include using natural resources to make decorations, second hand gifting and remembering to use our reusable shopping bags.

Zero Plastic Christmas is suitable for whole school singing, choir or guitar groups or to add to your child’s Christmas playlist. The chords are also ukulele friendly for small fingers! And the lyrics are fun, thought provoking and will inspire curiosity and discussion among all ages.

My goal is to work together with Plastic Free NZ to raise awareness about the unnecessary plastic waste increase over Christmas and encourage children to think of ways to take action and make a change.

Why? Because children are the future and educating through song is fun, effective and memorable. Plus kids just love to sing.

Where is the Pledge money going?

It will pay for the cost to record and produce Zero Plastic Christmas, such as:

  • Arrangement
  • Recording drums/bass/guitars
  • Mixing backing/adding keys
  • Recording vocals
  • Mixing/mastering

I aim to complete Zero Plastic Christmas and share on YouTube as a free song/resource, by the beginning to Term 4, 2018. It will also be available for digital download.

Every dollar put towards achieving this project is 110% appreciated!

🎶 There’s only one earth. Let’s care for Papatūānuku 🎶
