Losing Faith is a play written by Hawea Flat author and poet Liz Breslin - it is dark comedy that explores new parenthood, coffee groups and post natal depression. Following 5 sell-out shows in Wanaka last spring, we have put together a small regional tour and will be bringing the production to Wanaka; Hawea; Cromwell; Arrowtown; Queenstown; and Glenorchy this coming July 2017.We are a local non-profit theatre collective, with a mission to bring more theatre and arts productions to our community here in the Queenstown Lakes District, including the smaller rural towns such as Glenorchy.


We believe it is important to bring theatre into our rural communities as both a form of entertainment and a way to spotlight current issues. As post-natal depression is a subject that is often surrounded by taboo, we hope that this tour will shed light on a largely unspoken of topic and help to start some much-needed conversation around post-natal depression.

OUR PRODUCTION TEAM

Fiona Armstrong – Director

Fiona moved to Wanaka six years ago after completing a BA Hons in Drama and English Literature. Fiona fell in love with directing after working as an assistant director for the Festival of Colour production Like There’s No Tomorrow in 2015. Fiona’s solo directing debut, Losing Faith ran for five sell-out nights in Wanaka in 2016. Currently studying with the Actors Program in Auckland, Fiona has had the opportunity to work with and learn from New Zealand’s top television and theatre directors. Fiona is thrilled to be bringing these skills back to Wanaka and is looking forward to continuing to create art for the people of Queenstown and Wanaka.

Samantha Stout – Producer

Originally from Cornwall in the UK Samantha started her events career as an actor on the UK theatre circuit. With a strong events background in Music, Circus and festivals Samantha is bringing her experience to her new  Wanaka-based production company Tregold and is looking forward to getting back to her roots in theatre. Samantha will also be reprising her role as Naomi for the touring production of Losing Faith.

Liz Breslin – Writer

Liz is a writer, editor and performer based in Hawea Flat, Wanaka. Liz’s first play The Last Call Centre EVER in New Zealand opened to three sold out performances in Wanaka. Following on from this success Liz staged extremely well-received performance of It’s Your Shit. Losing Faith  has been her most successful play to date, with five sold out performances in Wanaka in 2016. Liz is excited about bringing Losing Faith to a wider audience with the 2017 production tour.

Emily Menzies – Assistant Producer and Stage Manager

With her background in the film and television industry, Emily spent 6 years freelancing on a variety of feature films and television series in the UK and Australia. Emily has now been settled in Wanaka for three years and is excited to get her creative juices flowing again with Losing Faith. With an eye to the future, Emily can’t wait to be a part of bringing more productions to Wanaka, Queenstown and the surrounding areas.
