Relocation Of Premises

Project 2012-10-04 01:26:50 +1300

You will be aware from recent media coverage that many children throughout New Zealand are attending school in clothing inappropriate for the weather conditions particularly during winter. This is a major concern with many not having warm clothing or adequate footwear to protect them from the elements. A lack of appropriate clothing increases their risk of illness and potentially impacts on their physical and emotional wellbeing at school and, therefore, their ability to learn effectively.

The ‘Care, Share and Wear’ initiative aims to address this issue across Taranaki. This registered charitable trust empowers children with the opportunity to care for other children through sharing. By donating their pre-loved clothing for other children to wear they help support those less fortunate. Our program commenced in September last year and to date we have collected from schools all around coastal, rural and south Taranaki.

One school we have donated clothing to three times. We estimate that we have donated to over 300 children in this short period of time and still have around 60 children awaiting orders in the Marfell and Waitara communities. We are also the point of contact for Women's Refuge, assisting them with clothing, footwear and toys.

Due to the overwhelming volume of donations from the Taranaki community, we have outgrown our current premises and have therefore been forced to relocate. With new premises we will be able to continue operating and fulfill our outstanding orders.
