About

Flo. From Woe To Go!

Project 2017-02-22 15:41:47 +1300

Do you have a uterus? Yes? Great! No? I’m sure you know at least 2 people who do! Read on… Menstruation is a taboo subject; in fact I bet that if you are reading this the word may have even made you cringe a little. If a person openly talks about periods *gasp* they are labelled as a “feminist” and not in a good way! Ideas and opinions are often dismissed when it comes to menstrual hygiene simply because we don’t talk about... anything.

If you’re lucky enough to have a strong uterus holding or menstruation knowledgable figure in your life as a young person (with a uterus) then maybe you would have been taught about pads and tampons and possibly the pill. The young people who know all the options available to them to help deal with their periods are few and far between, and most would have no idea where to start looking to get any “out of the box” products.

What is flo.?

flo. is a menstrual hygiene product metropolis. Not only will flo. offer a wide range of standard and non-standard products for people with uteruses, it will also be a safe place where young people can come to ask questions and learn about the changes that are happening to their body and the options that they have to manage these changes.

*Notice that flo. has no gender preference? that is because it is a safe place; there are many people with uteruses who would feel uncomfortable buying the products they need so rush themselves or buy online and don’t get the right advice - anyone can walk in the front door at flo.*

flo. not only caters to those first starting on their menstruation journey, there are many uteri owners who are struggling after YEARS or even DECADES of trying to find the right product, researching crazy remedies on the internet and never knowing when they should go and see a doctor.

Why do we alienate the problems of HALF of society? Why are periods so taboo that people hide their tampons in their shoes and clenched fists when they need to change them at work? flo. is a safe place to talk about these issues. Yes, flo. is a store and yes, one of the primary goals is to sell some amazing products but flo. is also a centre of knowledge, a place where teenagers can come and giggle at the funny looking products in groups but one will return the next day by themselves to get what they always needed.

Leave your problems on the shelf

flo. caters to anyone and everyone who menstruates or wants to know more about menstruation. The store itself will hold a wide range of products including natural and hypoallergenic collection methods (sea sponge tampons, cotton pads etc.), various sizes and shapes of menstrual cups, products to alleviate pain associated with menstruating (cold packs for tender breasts, wheat bags for cramps etc) and a series of free information packs.

The store will order direct from the manufacturer or wholesaler depending on the product. Where possible, products will be produced locally and branded with flo. branding. It is important that flo.’s customers have access to a wide range of product to suit their needs and that the staff onsite are knowledgeable and approachable.

The educational side of flo. and the product range sets it apart from other shops which sell "feminine hygiene" products. As flo. will stock many different menstrual collection products as well as offer information services it truly is the only place one needs to go when trying to deal with PERIOD QUESTIONS.

It is important to note that because of this, flo. cannot be an online store. The point that makes flo. stand out is simply that you can stand in the store, touch the products and talk to a real person.

Where will the money go?

When starting up a physical store there are expenses involved that aren't usually required when launching online. As flo. will be a physical safe place as well as a store it is important that the physical space can be leased in an ideal location. Funds will go directly towards all the start up costs associated with leasing space, outfitting the store, gathering information, acquiring products (many of our products will come from overseas) and promoting the information sharing aspects and in store products the company offes.
