About the “Pumped Up” initiative
Every kiwi kid deserves a bike
Help us get the wheels rolling.
We’re raising money to make sure kiwi kids in foster care have their very own bikes. We need your help to keep them having fun, staying fit and bonding as a family, just like every kid deserves.
Do you remember the joyful feeling of getting a new bike? When you learnt to ride it? The excitement & joy you felt? So do we. And that’s why we need your help to spread this feeling and get more kiwi kids on bikes. We are a group of passionate girls from Diocesan School, and we all have fond memories of riding bikes when we were younger. In support of Fostering Kids NZ, we want to share these experiences by raising money to buy brand new bikes for kiwi kids in foster care.
About Fostering kids NZ
More than 10,000 Kiwi kids are unable to live with their biological parents, and as a result these children are placed with foster families. Fostering Kids NZ is an organization that supports these foster families by providing encouragement, support and education, so that they can continue to open their homes and hearts to the kiwi kids in their care.
How are we trying to help?
The children and young people are cared for by an amazing group of foster parents who have opened their homes and hearts to children in need. They are ordinary people doing an extraordinary role of turning around young lives. We think this should be celebrated and we would like to do something to show our appreciation and offer some support to these foster families and Kiwi kids. We believe your help can transform lives.
“Pumped Up” is focussed on supporting foster families by giving their children brand new bikes because we believe they will make a positive difference to these children’s lives as well as their families and communities.
Fostering Kids has identified families who want their children to receive new bikes, and we will be raising money to fund bikes for these deserving children.
A bicycle is a common thing for a kiwi kid, and is a great way to have fun and to play with other kids, as well as getting exercise, gaining fitness and learning new skills . Children receiving a brand new bike creates a sense of trust and independence between them & their foster parents, and gives them a chance to spend quality time together being active as a family.
If we reach our target of $550 we will buy 3 bikes and helmets that will be given to foster children identified by Fostering Kids NZ.
