About

Leisa & Indy's NZ Charity Cycle Journey - South Island Leg

Project 2016-01-16 22:33:20 +1300

1800km's left to cycle of 3000kms towing a specially designed trailer with Indy a beautiful 35kg Boarder Collie/Bernese Mountain Dog in it on NZ National Cycle Way trails, promoting and fundraising for 6 regionally based charities in the South Island, presenting to children in schools and sharing a message of inspiration and hope after spending 2yrs at home suffering mental illness.

I resume my cycle journey in the South Island town of Nelson on the 30th of January this year at a local farmers market on Sat and family ride to Rabbit Island on Sunday, promoting and fundraising alongside two charities based in Nelson.  The following three months will be spent cycling, promoting, and sharing with those that we meet throughout our route and the other four charities.

We will be in:

Nelson 30th Jan supporting Tasman Environmental Trust & Menz Shed Waimea

Greymouth 13th/14th Feb supporting Westcoast Coastguard.

Christchurch 27th/28th Feb supporting Canterbury SPCA (where Indy came from at 14wks).

Dunedin 19th/20th March. supporting Otago Medical Research Foundation

Queenstown 2/3rd April. general fundraising and promotion

Bluff 30th April. supporting Number 10, Southland Youth One Stop Shop

My charity cycle journey has multiple objectives.  Firstly it is a recovery journey for me, this is not a holiday, though some may dispulte that!  Cycling, towing a dog in a trailer, presenting to school groups, promoting (both myself, my sponsors and charities), fundraising, taking photos and video to enable you  to follow us online through socialmedia, giving interviews are all part of what we do day to day.

I need your help to cover two of daily operating costs.  These are:

Camping cost of $15 per day per person  (myself and a support driver)

Groceries cost of $150 per week              (myself and a support person)

Thankyou for taking the time to look at my project and Indy and I hope to see you on our journey.

All the best,

Leisa
