About

The Valley Community Workspace Will Become A Hub For Sustainability, Creativity And Community-Led Development, With Your Help!

Project 2015-12-04 20:08:34 +1300

The Valley Community Workspace (VCW) is a new co-working hub for sustainable, innovative ventures, skill-sharing, creativity and community led development, based at 11 Allen Street in North East Valley, Dunedin.

We currently host the Dunedin Makerspace, an electric car and bicycle conversion workshop, bicycle repair, a co-working space, Kids holiday learning program and and an Art Recycling Centre.

In the last six months we have established these activities in a former garage. Excitement and enthusiasm is growing, so we want to take the next step to give us more security –buy the building!

This year, the owner has let us use it in return for covering costs; in 2016 we’ll need to do this plus pay rent. Most of our ventures are not-for-profit or sustainability start-ups, so paying the rent is always going to be challenging, hence our desire to buy it. Money raised here will help us to allow community members to invest small amounts of capital to collectively purchase the building, achieve social benefits, and earn capital gains. Your donation will help us achieve this vision!

The $3500 through Pledge Me would help us cover costs in the interim, as we scope purchase and find investors.

Valley Community Workspace (Inc) is an Incorporated Society with a mission to promote and support change toward a socially just, sustainable, low carbon future in our community.
