FLUTTER | Short Horror Film
Project 2015-09-10 21:15:38 +1200
Flutter is a horror short about flatting, technology, and things that go "cheep" in the night. Paloma, Deryn and Jayne are three very different women with just two things in common - they all share a house and they all love their Wi-Fi. Consumed by their online worlds, will they hear the moment nature starts to turn on them? More importantly, when something happens to one of their own, how long will it take for the others to notice?
Inspired by those classic horror films in which Mother Nature gets sweet, sweet revenge, Flutter takes a different tack - never do we see the monster! Instead this creep-fest is audio driven, playing with the self-imposed seclusion we get out of music, online gaming and social media and reminding the audience that we can only hear when we are listening.
This project is intended for assessment as part of a postgraduate program at AUT but the director has become incredibly passionate about the story and would like to ensure the finished work is of professional and publishable quality. With a small crew of volunteers, the budget required to make this film is even smaller than micro, but our starting point for funds is Absolute Zero! With your help we want to ensure the basic costs of film-making are covered.
So, what does this include? The budget covers things like transport so we can get gear from A to B without the aid of a bus and food so that our actors and crew aren't working on empty stomachs. We also need to cover the cost of props, and set items to make our very minimal locations (i.e. a crew member's student digs!) look a lot less bare. Our final budgetary requirement - and this should be no surprise! - is special effects make-up! What horror film is complete without a bit of gore, eh?
Rewards:
So, you ask yourself, what do I get out of all of this? Well, other than the warm fuzzy feeling of helping starving artists, and the privilege of calling yourself a "patron of the arts", we've come up with a few rewards for our fantastic pledgers - check them out just to your right =)
About the Director:
Originally from Christchurch, Aimee Rhiannon Borlase is a new import to the great land of film and television that we call Auckland. Passionate about story telling in all its forms, Aimee Rhiannon is used to being on the "other side" of the camera and knows a thing or two about what makes actors tick! She is fascinated by Hitchcock horrors, and longs to tell a tale that doesn't just frighten but leaves a creeping sensation under the skin long after the film has ended.
