About

Wellington Public Food Forest

Project 2015-07-17 12:09:58 +1200

We are working to create a public community food forest or orchard on the 22nd of August. We have a site in Karori, in Wellington and a few dozen trees. We are working with council to make this happen but we need your help to make it the best possible food forest we can. We need a small budget to purchase weed matting, mulch and assorted smaller plants like berries and for support species that will help the trees be as healthy as possible. We have a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers, and the support of the council. We just need that little bit extra push to make it amazing. The produce that this orchard will create will be free to the community to harvest.

We aim for this to be the first of many such food groves to be planted in Wellington and throughout New Zealand. Because it just makes sense to make fresh healthy food as available and as free as possible. Our vision is that all human settlements in Aotearoa will be dripping with food.

A little support from you will go a long way to creating a free food forest in Wellington. It will allow us to grow more things, better.
